Not sure if this deserves its own thread as most people I imagine would have a similar answer...
Simply; what is a good score for round 1?
I counted my current teams players averages from last year and for some players gave them some sort of score that i would expect. There isn't too much science here, but I came up with a total of 1986 (which is funnily enough my birth year)..
what based on your player's average last year and some guess work is your team's score and what do you think would be a good score?
I would be pretty content if I could hit over 2000 in the first round

2k is the aim. Anything less means catchup. 1950's is pro grade. Anything less is worrying. (Clearly though you judge this based on the Round Prize winners.... anything within 200-300 of them is pretty good for most of the season)

The last two years, my team has performed quite poorly in the first round. Two years ago, round 1 was my lowest score of the year by a fair bit.

I'd say that 2000 would be about on par, a little bit less probably won't put you too far behind. Of course, the average first round score will depend on the performance of popular players and what injuries may hit.

Adding up averages and what I believe some players will score, I got about 1950 - it really means very little though because players could shock you with a big down week or explode with a massive score. Also, it's hard to say what some rookies are going to score, you can't really primarily go on the NAB cup because the AFL is an entirely different level of competition.

The 1st round sets the tone for the season, but it's what you get in the rounds before you make the 1st trade will give you a target. A 2000 average in the 1st 6 rounds means you'll need to hit 2190 for the rest of the season. Anything less and you'll be under more pressure to hit big numbers after the split round.

I don't really mind what raw score I get. It's all relative to what everyone else gets. In saying that you would want to be inside the top 4000 if your going for the Car

Your round 1 score is only 1/22nd of your total score, and therefore it's importance is less than 5% :D

Some years the eventual winner starts really well, sometimes they start slowly and come home with a wet sail.

Last years winner averaged 2136 over 22 rounds, so this is a reasonable guide of what's required as an average to compete.

I'd like my team to start around the 2k mark, but 1850 isn't the end of the world. My teams usually tank round 3 for some reason so if I get a decent score in round 3, watch out :)

Changes every year, 2 years ago 1950 would get you into the top 100 after 1 week, while last year anything under 2000 would have had you outside the top 1000 by a big margin. My prediction is that the average DT score will drop a bit from last year so I reckon a score of 1850+ and you should be happy.

This may seem pretty bloody obvious but thought I's chip in anyway. As senrulzisback said, last year anything under 2000 last year would have seen you behind the competition. Reason for the higher scores on previous years was not only because of the higher possession game that is now being played but by the amount of 'hype' players that actually scored really well i.e. your Higgins', Skipworths etc.

If they score well early this year I think you can expect the same 1st round scores as last year however you should be happy with anything in the 1900's if not all the popular picks of this year shine.
