Marinoff with a well-deserved medal. Lead the mids all night.

Did what we had to do to win, but there's a lot to work on if we want to contend this season. Forward targets continue to be a problem and we can't afford cheap goals like Port got tonight.

Stat wise might show a dominance but it ended up being a little bit of a lucky win built on not much system.

Clarke was really stubborn tonight basically said - well you want to play a a heavy contested based territory game we’ll do that. Unfortunately due to either rustiness or bad positioning they were left vulnerable/got sucked into Port’s Mourinho-esque ‘park the bus’ counter attack.

Disagree. Standard is miles better than season one.
But progress has slowed in recent years for sure.
Agreed

Defensive skills, fitness etc will improve faster than skill level (because they're easier)

Will take a little while for footskills, marking, ball handling to catch up. At the moment the pressure causes errors and can make for untidy passages.

I was pleased with some of our handball work around stoppages. Quite clean, released players on the outside
