Close to a pub hopefully
See, call me cynical, but I actually think this is a ploy these days. You have this huge break in the afternoon between the wedding and the reception, knowing that everyone is just going to go to the pub, get some booze and food in them and then cater less for food and booze at the wedding. We had to bring food to the engagement party and our own beer to the buck's 'party' to this one.

Now I'm not one for overly extravagant parties by any stretch. Hell, we spent a tiny fraction on our wedding compared to most of the weddings we have gone to, but one thing we didnt stinge on was the catering/booze/soft drinks. If you're gonna make people drive/cab uber to the middle of nowhere, at least don't make them bring their own booze/food IMO

That is absolutely f****d!!
Some people are just cheapskates.
Make sure you get them a sh*t gift and if they are willing to allow 3 hours between ceremony and reception, you owe it to them to rock up to the reception absolutely sozzled!
Make them regret the choice to have everyone have to sit around and buy their own grog.

Hey, sometimes it isn't so bad. In 2013 i was planning to go to round 2, but a friend of mine invited me out to a dinner party out in the sticks, caught the end of the game on the radio when mum picked me up. To this day i credit my friend for saving my life

You would think that, but went to a wedding two weeks ago where this was meant to happen, except then the bride was an hour late so by the time the ceremony was done and the group collective photo was done, the bar was about to open anyway.

Been waiting for this game all off season and now I've been given a late organised wedding invite. What a disaster.
I've got a wedding on the Sunday, which is when our game was originally organised for. Absolute miracle for me that they shifted it to Saturday, I guess someone had to pay (sorry mate).

Bizarrely the reception is a week later so if we lose I'll spend the entire week getting slizzard for pres.

The reception a week after the wedding? ... thats a new one.

Don't mean to be a whinger, but what in the actual?

Does no one know how to throw a party anymore? So they expect people to commit to two weekends for the one thing? I must be out of touch.

It's been my recent experience of weddings, that yes, the bride and groom do indeed expect you to as infatuated with their nuptials as they are. I went to one recently, and the entire bridle party look miserable due to the demands and stresses involved.

Get there early or prepurchase. The 2014 game I went that option - there aren't enough ticket booths. Didn't get in until QT because I was stuck in line.
I had a similar problem. I remember waiting in line as melbourne kicked the first goal, I was really itchin to get in. There was a great buzz about the roos lead melbourne. For some reason we were favourites and when melbourne (toumpas?) Kicked the first goal I remember the feel from a few Melbourne supporters around was this was going to be an easy win. Once again in hindsight I don't know why as we were still recovering from the neeld years and I don't think saints were that bad. Once I got in it was pretty down hill from there (as it seems to be the case in recent games) we kicked 0.8 in the second but overall may of been 10 behinds straight at one point.

Anyway fast forward to this round 1. Certainly a different feel as the 2014 teams were considered to poor teams and now 2017 two teams pushing to make the 8. My gut feel is a close game, but can't help feeling that it will be close but the saints will pull away in the last few minutes. If we can survive the saints game break the hoodoo then I can see us breaking another hoodoo by round 2. Though it's meaninglessness It would be nice to be on top of the ladder by round 2. Or is that too optimistic?:rainbow:

I nearly got married once. Well, last year actually. The whole organising shit I could never really get into of the wedding. I just didn't care. But I had no objection to organising a piss up and awesome food and stuff because that seems to me to be the fun bit. I got so miserable about the wedding part which was stupid that we decided just to get married at a registry in private on the morning, then focus on the massive piss up with food and (surprise) announce when people showed up that the wedding part had already happened and just to enjoy the party.

Anyways, a week before the big secret private wedding and public pissup and party the penny dropped. Why get married. Screw That For A Joke. So we just had the pissup. It was awesome fun and a decent talking point that we ended up with a reception to celebrate not getting married. Actually I guess some people thought it was weird, which it kind of was, but stuff them. I have a right to not get married on any day I choose and I will celebrate this how I please.

Back on topic though, looking back I wish I had scheduled it to clash with a Saints match. Any Saints match. I wonder if there is still time to schedule some kind of non-wedding anniversary to avoid round one?

I'll bite.
You tell me.
If you're referring to the injury he sustained last year, I would have thought his performances in the JLT would suggest he's over it??

How's Montagna's calf?

Easy tiger, apparently Hogan had a scan on it yesterday but just a precaution according to club.

Congratulations? :p

Judy out for season with an ACL.
Defence stretched very thin.

This is where a rookie elevation would've been nice to have an extra body as an option in this kind of scenario.
Thanks again Heritier you POS.

Interesting... Joel Smith is the same height as garland. That puts him 3 cm taller than Membrey and I recon hes faster too I recon Smith sticks to Membrey all game.. he is actually a good 1 on 1 defender
