See, call me cynical, but I actually think this is a ploy these days. You have this huge break in the afternoon between the wedding and the reception, knowing that everyone is just going to go to the pub, get some booze and food in them and then cater less for food and booze at the wedding. We had to bring food to the engagement party and our own beer to the buck's 'party' to this one.Close to a pub hopefully
Now I'm not one for overly extravagant parties by any stretch. Hell, we spent a tiny fraction on our wedding compared to most of the weddings we have gone to, but one thing we didnt stinge on was the catering/booze/soft drinks. If you're gonna make people drive/
