Pure fantasy.

The best you can get is mid first round right after your pick, and he'll never attract a contract big enough for that. If we're lucky someone will gamble and we'll get a pick at end of first round.
We won't be mid first round, hence why it'll be a early first rounder.

You are the one who lives in fantasy land. You really have to let go of the fact he ran over your skateboard by accident one day.

Why won't we be mid first round? Draft based on the current ladder, draft based on last season, both end up in the middle. We'd have to win a yet to be proposed lottery to get lower than the middle.

He's not as good or as valuable as you think he is, it's just taken longer for some to realise than others.

Whispers already about AFL austerity measures in play for this years Brownlow count.
No four course meal at Crown Casino, replaced with a sausage sizzle at Marvel Stadium and BYO refreshments.
No black tie and evening gown dress code, replaced with t-shirts, shorts and thongs. Gill was overruled on this and threatened not to attend, he hasn't worn shorts since he was a boy.

Our reigning BnF who already had clubs offer him 800-1mil ??

Sure thing.

Lucky I or very few other people take you seriously

Our reigning BnF in a losing year, as voted by a coaching group who were fired a month later, who did not at all appear to have an impactful season, and by any objective standard robbed the medal from Talia and/or Keath, who shouldered most of the load when it came to keeping our season alive despite the insipid midfield. The top 5 as voted by the departed says all you need to know about how out of touch with reality they were: Brad Crouch, Sloane, Laird, Matt Crouch, and Smith - the core of our flogged midfield plus a massively disappointing year from Laird.

His manager says he got those offers, sure.

Plenty of people here do agree with me, I Just went a little earlier than most.

You keep thinking that, you're deluded.

If Brad was this God like player some are trying to push we'd all be really worried about him leaving... right...
Reality is most would be more happy with a compo pick.
I don't think hes a god like player, but for a club who is dying for midfielders to trade out their best one when hes coming into his prime is utter stupidity.

Yeah mate I can understand your thinking it's just Brad in my opinion isn't worth keeping and paying huge money if we can get a good compo pick and accelerate the rebuild
Look how the Dogs turned it around after Griffen left .. or Brissy after Rockliff, both at the time seen as the team's best players but in fact the CLUBS were better off in letter them go.

If we were contending we'd be very interested in holding onto Brad. We're not, so how big an offer he gets from another club will dictate our stance.
If he gets a big offer in terms of years and salary, it would certainly be goodbye Brad and thanks for the first round Free Agency compo pick. Just how big and how long that contract is will dictate where it sits in the first round. If the offers aren't that big and we'll be paying close to his real worth then we'll want to keep him.

Griffen walked from the Dogs who were a rabble at the time. They overpaid for Tom Boyd in every respect, but he was ultimately instrumental in a VFL inspired premiership.

Rockliff was totally on the nose at Brisbane and was demoted from the captaincy role because of his poor and destabilising leadership. The only other team besides Port who showed any interest in him was Carlton and nobody was going there at the time. The win for Brisbane was not what they got for him but the change of culture that eventually blossomed. There were obviously lots of other factors in play here but this was the line in the sand for the Lions.

Brad is not on the nose or a destabilising factor at our club, just another player using Free Agency to ensure his future.

Well, no, I don't think that flows. We're dying for elite midfielders. Saying that we need elite midfielders, therefore we can't afford to lose a non elite midfielder doesnt follow any logical stream.

I'm not sold that I want Brad to leave just yet, but the failure of our midfield as a unit and the Crouch brothers contributions to that have made me consider the possibility more strongly.

Our midfield have failed when Brad wasn't there. Hell we had the best midfielder in the game for 2 years and won 1 final.

Brad is our best midfielder, we can't lose him for anything less than Band 1. If he gets an offer that big then yeah sure let him go.

The landscape has changed though, free agency isn't going to look the same as it does now. The money won't be the same, the contract length wont be the same.

And who knows what is going to happen with the draft. Talk of a round and a half, not sure how that works. Looks like a terrible year to have a good draft hand, even if it’s a full draft, there’s going to be a lot less reliability than normal. Way too early to call what’s best for us yet.

The other side of the coin is that midfield performance last week was damn concerning, and that's not the first time those three have failed to fire as well. It looks like a group who have gotten too comfortable, and too same-same.

Brad is the easiest to let go, however, it's a real wait and see at this point. I'm genuinely concerned about the loss of experienced/hardened bodies as you need a few to set standards, and get your kids through the rough period, however, you also can't argue with the on-field if it keeps remaining broken.

One day you'll get something right, and when this is over we will throw a celebration for you.

It will be magical

Rory Sloane has been our best midfielder since the day Dangerfield walked out, and unfortunately we've learned that his shortcomings mean he's never going to be in that select group of elite mids who can turn any game singlehandedly.

Brad Crouch has never been as good as Sloane, and never come close to being an elite mid in the competition.
