Remarkable parallels between the Vics and WA innings'. Get sent in, get into early trouble, but saved by two experienced bats, one being patient (Whiteman/Handscomb) and the other really pushing the run rate (Inglis/Harris) but both finishing 7 down with a pretty good score for the day.

A selection battle between Carey and Inglis for the test keeping position looms again. Going to be very tempting for the selectors to think very hard about Inglis with his ability to score quickly.

Carey will be the keeper in the tests but if he struggles in the first three tests he could be in trouble and if Inglis keeps scoring runs at that rate pressure will be building .. and that’s what you want competition

I can see Inglis being a Smokey even just as. A batter in Sri Lanka to make his test debut . As I reckon he is one of the best players of spin in the country

With talk of Head moving to open, and the concern being by doing so you lose the scoring ability of Head at 5 which has prooven valuable. The scoring ability of Inglis may be a fix for that problem. You could then also retain Carey as keeper.

We got some news on green dog today and it looks like they are looking at the back end of the tests in Melb Syd to bowl again...thats from Brettig

and they are looking at green dog playing just as a batter only........this could be an option opening with greenie if they want it keep head at 5
