Would it be right to assume that the Carlton Football club is still benefitting from the much rumoured tanking era that netted the club some very favourable draft picks? Could it be argued that the club will benefit from allegedly pre determining the outcome of games until the players gained as a result of "tanking" have left the club? If this is the case should opposition clubs feels aggrieved that they are playing an opposition in Carlton who've dishonestly enhanced their playing list, hence created an uneven playing field?

Yes, if we tanked. Unfortunately, having attended almost every game during that period, I can confirm that we were just shit.

If you think Carlton tanked for a whole area, you are more ignorant than I could have imagined. If we did try to not win in 2007, the only year really in question, we could have gained a whole player. One player out of 22 that would have been replaced by somebody else. Is that really the same thing as potentially the bulk of a whole list artificially improving performance?

You guys carry on about scum and cheats on your own board and you are entitled to it. Don't come here getting all indignant with your tit for tat rubbish because Carlton supporters hold a negative opinion about your club in return.

Last time I checked, my football club wasn't found guilty of tanking and the AFL cleared us from any wrongdoing a long time ago. The only evidence against us supposedly tanking was a former assistant coach in Tony Liberatore (after he was given the arse, mind you) coming out and claiming that he "believed" we were tanking, only to come out on SEN radio not so long after to rescind his comments.

Your club is currently being investigated for taking PEDs and there is mounting evidence to suggest that this is the case. In all honesty, we haven't seen or heard anything to suggest that it wasn't the case, have we?

I've said it many times and I'll say it again, the thought of losing to a club whose strongly been linked to using PEDs and illegal practises over the last 12m does make me sick in the guts. Beating you guys is always satisfying, but if we are to pull off a win tonight, it will be all the more satisfying.

We've been investigated and found not guilty. On the other hand we know for a fact that Essendon were going off site for weekly injections and a few documents leading to PEDs have been found. You make the fair point that Essendon have not been found guilty/not guilty but you definately can't make the comparison to carlton who have been found not guilty. Though it is fair for us to say that IF indeed your mob did take PEDs it would be unfair on the competition, which is was kenny hunter was saying. He never said that Essendon did in fact take drugs

Rightio, cue in the rack time. Let the silliness begin.

Baggers by a whopping 5 points. :thumbsu:

Will be interesting to see how the Daniher boy goes, big wraps on him, Bomber Thompson nearly had a change of pants when asked about him on 360 a couple of weeks ago.

My ticker would barely get through the game numbers if it's going to be that close.
Massive test for Daniher tonight on the biggest stage, with Henderson his likely opponent.
Very very tough start to his AFL career.

This saladodger and you are treading a very fine line here with those comments.

Without a shadow of a doubt the most unpredictable game for us every year.

Wondering if MM comes up with a couple of back to front positional changes to start the shennanigans.

We have a very flexible line-up.

Also I've just popped over here for a squiz. I have noticed that a few of you are talking about 3 defensive jobs through the middle. Surely not. How the hell will you get your own drive.

I'm guessing you'll tag Stanton and then hope that their is enough leadership at the stoppage to keep a body on Watson. You'll be hoping that Murphy does more damage then Zaharakis and Simpson gets more of it than Goddard. You'll also be hoping that Gibbs can out perform Heppell. Where Carlton has to worry is that Myers, Howlett and Hocking are out performing your depth through there.
Hoping and worry...

I guess Judd is "depth" along with Lucas, Mclean and Robinson. Sounds like you're assuming they will struggle to match Myers, Melksham, Howlett and Hocking for output. The Essendon players aren't running around like headless chooks with Melbourne, but you appear to think this side lack strength and grunt. Curnow and Cachia aren't pure shutdown players like Joseph who can't find the ball. Cachia kept Moloney quiet bar his second quarter. Curnow takes gutrunners like Stanton, Boak, Sloane and Gaff, but he's still capable of finding the ball and adding muscle to the midfield. Was a ball magnet in 2011 before he switched to a defensive mid role like Carrazzo.

Simpson is back in form after being pushed to the backline. This has allowed us to push the bigger bodies and grunt into the midfield. Gibbs, Curnow, Cachia, Robinson and Mclean have taken the heat off Judd and Murphy to perform at the coal face.

Bombers have to match the pace of Lucas, Garlett, Betts and Yarran who rotate through the midfield and sprint hard forward.

We still have our wily old veteran Scotland marshalling the backline/midfield.

Hams and Daniher would be the least experienced players out there tonight.

We've smashed Essendon to pieces recently. Pretty confident of a win, even if they do have the greatest key forward since John Coleman debuting for them.

Carlton was cleared of tanking. Did you not know that?

Essendon have not been cleared.

Its interesting that on the Northern Blues newsletter they mention the return of McInnes and the inclusions of Menzel and Bell, yet no mention of Bootsma......late change perhaps....

I guess Essendon aren't cheats, poor me, here I was thinking Essendon cheated in their flag year and got a slap on the wrist, and not to forget the wonderful "VITAMINS injected into the stomach" and "standby a drug cheat Hird".

Heart rate is up already.
Hope Scotland has a happy 200th and Robbo a happy birthday.

To those of you who are going to the match, have an awesome time and if we win sing the song so loud that I can hear you over here in the West. I still have 36 mins of work left.
