I'll be so upset if Walker & Judd are late exclusions from the side.

I dunno, I don't keep track. maybe 1k? 2k? Maybe more, who knows. Don't worry, I don't have spiders crawling BigFooty to track down any mention of the subject, but I do tend to get involved on opposition boards during the week we play them, and it comes up with monotonous regularity. Not surprising, but yeah, pretty disappointing when it's something from the first half of last year that would have no relevence now, but there you go

Welcome to this board Lance. Thing is, assuming EFC took the PEDs in order to massively accelerate their strength and conditioning, it would have a lasting impact, because fitness builds on itself - the fitness base. You only need to look at a first year player compared to a fifth year player to understand the compounding nature of strength and conditioning. So the suggestion that what happened last year would not have an impact on this year is just not right.

Also I've just popped over here for a squiz. I have noticed that a few of you are talking about 3 defensive jobs through the middle. Surely not. How the hell will you get your own drive.

I'm guessing you'll tag Stanton and then hope that their is enough leadership at the stoppage to keep a body on Watson. You'll be hoping that Murphy does more damage then Zaharakis and Simpson gets more of it than Goddard. You'll also be hoping that Gibbs can out perform Heppell. Where Carlton has to worry is that Myers, Howlett and Hocking are out performing your depth through there.

Regards Essendon's running defenders, Dempsey is out and I imagine that Hibberd will have his hands full tonight. If Essendon doesn't bring Hardingham in then Essendon will most likely one of Myers, Heppell or Goddard down back as a distributer.

I think Essendon's best this year has been better than Carlton's. I also think that Carlton are missing more important parts to their best 22. For these reason Essendon should be favorites .... however, you can just never tell with games between our clubs!! Essendon was vastly superior to Carlton during 01-05 yet I'm pretty sure we lost to you a few times. Under Matthew Knights Essendon was a long way behind Carlton, yet he only lost to them once.

The last two years has seen Essendon outperform Carlton early in the year (Essendon drawing with the 2 ACLs was pretty freakin awesome), but Carlton feast on Essendon later. So to totally confuse us this one is in the middle of the year!!

All I can say for sure is if Essendon's tackling drops to the levels it did against Brisbane and GWS then Carlton will romp it home. If Carlton get too cautious with the ball like Richmond did against us then Essendon will win easily.

What are they in doubt about? Maybe they're just not sure whether to bring the umbrella or not, and fair enough on such a grey old day!!

Grey day?? Where are you? Tasmania?

I'm looking up from the 'burbs. Sun is shining . Birds are singing.

With a dry deck, the pace will be on tonite. Essendon will be chasing numbers 1, 6, 13, 27 and 38 till they drop.

Carlton have won 4 drawn one and lost one out of the last six games against Essendon. The average F&A has been 75/150 against Essendon lately - but yes Essendon go in as favourites - just like Adelaide/West Coast did. Since carlton playing a new game style under a new coach deconstructed these pretenders they have become 'weak sides' according to commentatotrs - funny how everyone Carlton beats is a weak side.

If Walker and Judd are indeed late scratches - Essendon should be favourites. Hopefully these rumours are just pre-game mucking arounds - judging by selected sides - both coaches are expecting a torrid affair.

If they didn't pass fitness tests today surely we might have heard...no?

Here's hoping no late withdrawals and a gold old fashion Carlton bathing of the scum. :)

It will be a very good game to win this one - maybe the first 8 point game in the season for us. The Richmond boofs are no certainties against Adelaide.

sigh, guess I know where you're going to go with it if you lose
I will go with this every week Lance no matter who they play or what the result is.

The length of the investigation and the fact that every club that hasn't used an illegal substance, methods or dodgy medical staff can still potentially lose games to Essendon is just wrong IMO.

I'd say on Carrazzo is missing from our best 22.
Lailder is still rediscovering his form from 2011, and Warnock is still injured. And I don't expect to see Hampson back any time soon. If anything, this will be our strongest side we have fielded all year, assuming that both Judd and Walker play.
