Collins isn't the answer, he will just turn it over.

Ryan in for Mundy with weller to the midfield. Make a statement in the midfield, see how they respond.

Ibbo for Nyhuis.

But it's not just a lack of rebound. It's a lack of defending. We leak an extraordinary amount of scores per inside 50. Our defenders can't protect our midfield from even one down quarter.

Hughes Collins Hamling
Weller Johnson Ryan

Spurr still in team. If it's too tall and not working send Johnson into ruck. He's noticeably better than Taberner.

I'm not sure that's even the right mix. But Collins is no doubt on the brink of selection. And given we just lost by 100, a fair few players need to make way.

Collins isn't Dawson, and takes intercept marks, negates opposition Talls, same as Cox, Nyhuis, which lets
Johnson, Hamling to attack more. These guys know their limitations and use their flankers to distribute the
ball, but more importantly bring others into the game.
Using Hamling, Johnson as the two key defenders limits our run, flair, from defense.
Maybe even create mismatches for Ibbo, Sutcliffe?

Hmm, that's disappointing. He's clearly taken a set against Collins. Successful coaches don't play favourites.

I think he was just mentioning the emergencies... A lot of people think it's time for Collins to make a return, and I personally don't give a shit if he's not replacing a 'like for like' player.

His disposal is questionable but he'll blunt 3-4 extra goals being scored a match. Ibbo and Sutcliffe can't kick but they can't lock down their man either, Collins will do them better on at least that department.

I'm also worried about Grey, hasn't impacted the last two matches at all and needs to increase his intensity.

I agree with the previous posts that our defence is not defending well (and not rebounding well either). I would like to see Sam Collins in for Igbo, releasing MJ and/or Hamling to create more. I am not sure if Hamling can do it, but I think we should give it a try. (I think this year is for development and experimentation, although I also believe in playing your way in, which Sam has done). I think Sam's down sides are overstated, he brings grunt, he reads the play well, he thinks quickly and he handballs well. We may not gain in rebound from this move, but we do not lose either.

If Langdon is not fit (and we should not risk him) I would like to try Luke Ryan in for Sutty, Sutty up the ground for Danyle and Danyle to Peel. I think Sutty has been crowbarred in to the HBF and deserves an opportunity elsewhere.

If Sandi does not get up, maybe a threeway with Darcy, Tabs and Johnno sharing the rucking.

Out: Brad Hill. Continuously coasting around, plays one good game then shit for 4 weeks. Can't hit a target unless it's the goal. Was a bad trade by us, he was the steak knives at Hawthorn and now that he isn't surrounded by the same talent, he's shown to be ordinary.
In: Anyone.
Why the **** do you even come on here anymore? Any time I see you post, you're always shitting on all the players and never anything else. Everything that comes out of your mouth is utter shit. Just piss off.

Collins I don't believe would be a swap for Igbo. Very different players. Collins does deserve a go and could perhaps be a swap for Tabs and free up Jono to be a +1 in defence, ruck spare and swing man.

Igbo needs a spell in the WAFL and either of sucliffe or Spurr out. I doubt Spurr will be dropped so that leaves Sutcliffe. Mundy and Pearce were ordinary as well. Griffin is next to useless. Darcy is still building but what the heck might as well give him a taste.

In: Sheridan, Ryan, Logue, Collins, Darcy/Sandi
Out: Pearce, Igbo, Sutcliffe, Tabs, Griffin

Taberner might have been pretty ordinary tonight, but he was also on arguably the best key defender in the league and not really in conditions that suited tall key forwards.
And give him credit, he did try.

No way should he be dropped.

Plus ruckwork - and 4 tackles. Those 4 tackles are from him at least putting in some effort in the game, in contrast to 9 players with only 1 tackle including our other 2 tall forwards. That our 2 players with afterburners on their feet - the hill brothers - couldn't use their speed to chase down and tackle on a day when the opposition had the ball all day is a bit sad (1 each).

You have to question the tactics of bringing SHill straight back after injury, but can you play the Hills, D Pearce, Walters, in
the middle, especially in the wet.
How many outside types can you play in slippery conditions?
The game highlighted our bruise free footy, and deer in the headlights mentality, at least this can be fixed.

His 4 tackles would've come from when he was in the ruck. Our other tall forwards didn't have that opportunity. The fact that Tabs had less fantasy points than the other two but had the luxury of going into the midfield to get his hands on it and try and get some hitouts speaks volumes. He was shithouse.

I know you're trying to be funny but it's a Winter sport. Any players that go missing in the wet (I'm looking at you Tabs) can GTFO

Pick the team to suit the conditions. But to be fair, it was the backline and midfield that were completely destroyed in Q1 in the rain. It wasn't the forwards who didn't get the inside 50s.

Skills and tackle effort were sorely missing.

Getting Ballantyne back would help in the rain but plenty more effort needed.

Poor Griff is an obvious out....I assume Sandi will be fine to play.
Not sold on dropping Spurr...Sutcliffe's head would likely be on the block first....and I didnt think Spurr was that terrible last night...
Pearce is a likely out.....Dont really care who comes in for him.

I thought grey gave it a crack last night, one of the only guys who knows how to tackle with absolute ferocity, keeping in mind it hardly came down forward limiting the supply our forwards got.

Just quit while you're behind. You made an incredibly stupid comment and now you're just annoying everyone trying to justify it.
You call it incredibly stupid, based on nothing. I've based it on cold facts. He goes missing against good sides.

Love you too.

When he moved into the middle and actually got a couple of clearances, it was an indictment of how poor the others were playing. Although he wasn't as effective as usual, he was one of the few, along with Fyfe, Griffin, Weller, Crozier and Tucker who didn't drop their heads. Kept trying until the end. Deserves to keep his spot.

I don't get the call to bring in Collins. We have zero rebound from our defence and we need more speed and skills back there, our defence against the KPD's is pretty good. Collins would slow us down.

Swap Ibbotson for Ryan. Better skills, let Ibbotson go back and get form.
Sutcliffe for Logue - you will not loose a lot, but he will get experience
Griffin is spent, give Darcy a shot next week. Grundy will be a very tough match for him.

If Sheridan comes back in he must play a role that suits him.

"facts"

He actually doesn't though. In our win against Richmond this year (the highest side we have beaten) he was one of our best players.

Your comment was stupid and you have presented no facts to back it up with. You should quit while you're behind and stop making yourself look like an idiot.

I can KIND of see Collins in if it allows Johnson to play loose defender as opposed to lock down.
