We have NO ONE who can take a pack mark. We have a bunch of forwards who are best on the lead. Guess what we do? Yep, kick it to a pack 75% of the time and wonder why it is not marked and gets turned over. It makes you want to pull your hair out it is so daft.
Spot on, and did you notice Max in the last Qtr, playing deep forward. No BBB. It worked some of the time because of his reach factor.

The key is our transitioning into F50,, but they are also being more of a man on man situation, across our centre-line.
Interesting times.

I would employ a specialist coach to train our boys in the art of body-work thru the middle part of the season, so we can learn some tricks to add to our skillset.

Having TMc back (in the side) would help, as he is one of our best body on body. And also Hibbo is not too shabby in these skill areas.

Forwards. When the mids win it, there's not enough movement for them. They kick it to the percentage play.
Ok yep agree, my concern is though the forward line is to one dimensions all leading forwards, would really love a crash the pack player up there to play with brown or Tmac

Yep. Max was our best forward tonight. Also easily best on ground, which is ridiculous that we have to rely on our ruck so much.

Why do we need Tmac back? May, Lever and Petty is the perfect line up.

The bookies currently have us at $1.23 favourites next week against the filth. lmao we wont be winning until after we've had a break. We're spent atm.

Me too, but Weid has not taken his chances. So, we need to adjust how we move it into the forward line to best suite the players were have there.

It's not rocket science so why aren't we doing something about it????

No many players can consistently take pack marks. The fact that were asking that of our forwards is kind of the problem.

Our forward entries were 2019 levels tonight.

I respectfully disagree. On most occassions when we have the ball a kick out from the 50, we hold it and wait, yet no leads or movement is forthcoming. Then the inevitable bomb on top of forwards heads, spill, turnover.
That's right, exactly what we are doing. And where we are coming unstuck. They are flooding inside our F50.

We have to work something out, because our scoreboard pressure isn't happening

M Browns's kick to Fritsch was the perfect example of what we are not doing enough of.
Our forward line is getting congested and we end up kicking to a pack mark situation.
We need to figure out a solution to this or teams will continue to do that same thing to us.
Our coaches ‘trust the system’ way too much. Need to make changes but they genuinely believe we’ve cracked the code somehow

Its good its happening now, instead of late season.

I think you are agreeing with my point? It's a low percentage play unless you have some beast mode forward that clunks more contested marks than not, or have elite crumbers. We have neither, so why do it so consistently?

so then is it the forwards that’s the problem or the mids? You are saying the mids bomb it in but also the forwards aren’t making leads?
Both... the big boys up front, have to get smart.
Our talls and bigger bodies up forward, have to play tag-team with one another.

They have to hold, bump, block, for one another, like last year.
Not sure what the mids can do if the forward don’t lead to space.
Our mids need to be more composed with the footy, before releasing it into our F50. They have to be smarter.

Yeah, last year they had the kick it to a contest in the pocket plan, that was their "genius" move.
They've stopped doing that or teams have started to play us differently, they need to review their system, hopefully they have the insight to do that.

Thought Sydney was really good, too. Always a good team. Fair play to them, really. Like last week, I think we were just outplayed by a better team.

I'm not feeling particularly strongly either way at the moment. Exciting game to watch, though.

Yep, my dad called it even when we got our lead, Sydney always seem to keep grinding and he themselves back into games and he was spot on.

Yep, but thats all the Swannies do, is grind. They don't have another gear, or weapon.

And they blunted ours, with crowding all the plays they could.

We have to be better with the ball around the stoppages, when we are pressured, and not fumble. This is what gets us time-and-space, going inside our F50, wide around the flanks, running the ball.

Sorry, I just backed up a few weeks of frustrations and unloaded a full truckload.

So we've got Coll, Carlton, Brisbane twice, Fremantle (in WA) and Geelong in Geelong. That's 6 guaranteed losses. Unless we turn things around which I haven't seen any evidence of the last 6 weeks. So that's 8 losses and miss out on top 4. Shame.

Why not go further? I think we'll miss finals.

lol, nice attempt to turn this around onto me. I called it all correctly, all season long. The margins have papered over the cracks. I saw the weaknesses 6-8 weeks ago. it should've been obvious against North and WCE. But for whatever reason people needed to see it in losses to see it.

I pat myself on the back and move on.

I'd like to see a new starting 3 midfield. Gawn, Clarry, L.Jackson and Viney or Gawn, Clarry, ANB and A.Brayshaw. It may not work but change something up for heavens sake. Actually, probably not move Brayshaw. Maybe Salem can go to a wing or a half forward too so we can start hitting targets in the forward line.

Do you get tired of being right all the time?
