You watch an oppo club come looking for him in the trade period.
We'll accept a third rounder and convince ourselves its a good deal.
They'll settle him into a 2nd/ 3rd forward position and he'll be a gun.
I never understand this logic.

The melts would be enormous if we paid more than a late third rounder for someone with equivalent numbers as Sharman yet because he currently plays for us, we presume he should be worth more if he was traded out.

Sharman is potentially a Gunston. I am sure Adelaide and Hawks supporters had the same discussions as we are having. He is the obvious replacement for Membrey.
We all wondered about Mr play everywhere Battle he settled down and has become a key player...it takes time to develop your own. Look at Sincs could have easily been cut in preference to keeping Billings on the list, and he then became AA.

Unfortunately we do not have many that come in from the draft and change like Sheezel and Harley Reid. Wilson has been exceptional, Pou has shown a lot of strengths but also weaknesses. Hotton when not injured looks good and Hugo Hastie show good signs.

Moose is developing.Think we can cut Campbell and 2-3 old servants will exit as we must give time for these players to develop further.

We are seeing a POD with Dow and what Clark can do add Crouch back into the mix and presto watch as our forward entries improve.

Also about Bonner a backmans first job is to defender, it is why Port cut him the same issues linger and with Sincs more in the back 6 with Nas I think he is cut for Stocker.

We go on a bit about delivery into the forward half from the midfield, which is partly correct, but I think it's more about the midfield getting more of the ball in the first place, as we just don't get hands on it enough to clear the ball.
A lot of high balls going into the forward half are relying on our forwards winning a one-on-one contests, and we are not doing that enough. Owens, Caminiti and to a lesser extent King, just don't seem to be winning enough of those body contests and I think as young players, they get caught out a bit watching the game or not watching their man making position.
We saw our forwards let too many easy intercept marks sneak in against the WCE, and that's been the case a for quite a few games.

Insultingly, GC are favourites on our home deck. Time to roll this souless mob, put the sour right back into that pout of Dimma's and push on for one more short-break before the Bye.

Saints by 3 points. Howard to keep Bing goaless! Higgins off the leash kicks 5.

Yeah…nah…our fans hate coming here..🙄

I would hasten slowly on seeing the back of Heath or Sharman.

Heath is developing nicely, coming along at a steady pace. He needs games into him and he needs to keep developing his tank. I don't know, it might be the rosy cheeks but he looks like he is gassed all the time when he obviously isn't.
Will be interesting the coming preseason how he builds his tank. He doesn't have to be keeping up with Wilson, but he need to match Roh.

Coops is a decent high half forward playing second or third fiddle. He is still developing, has a nice kick, can mark it well and showed on the weekend he can kick clutch goals. Can also go back. Membrey is almost done, there is a golden opportunity for him or Hammer, and anyway injuries will occur.
We throw away talent. Acres 5 years later is a fixture in the Carlton line-up playing great football.
Both in my opinion are worth persisting with especially Heath.

I don't expect Membrey to play on next year but the problem for Sharman is Owens and Phillipou.

If those two don't become almost full time mids then they have to play fwd and there's simply no permanent spot for Sharman so his aim ATM should be to become a "utility" player. (a job I reckon he could do fairly well)

Cutting Heath now would be madness. We don't actually need him in the AFL team now. Whether big men take longer or not doesn't matter, right now he's starting to dominate at VFL level and could definitely make it as an AFL ruck with the trajectory he's on.
I’d be surprised if someone else doesn’t come after him.

The only issue is fitting them onto the main list as they are both still on the Rookie list. Allison being delisted, Jones unlikely to be offered a contract, Hayes in the same boat due to injury and Cambpell probably on his final year realistically (but I would offer him a rookie contract) only leaves three immediate spots (Im not sure if Hayes is a rookie still).

I think there will be at least one more delisting in the likes of someone like Hotton who is on the lower side of making it and maybe one of Membrey or Ross retiring (but unlikely both).

They are both in the "want to keep" pile though.

Half the list is uncontracted for 2025 - this will sort itself out quite easily IMO

Jones, Ross, Allison, Campbell, and Van Es I reckon will all be gone. Hayes and Hotton probable as well but I’d much rather we keep them.

Then we’d be likely trading a player or two, Paton or Clark for example.

Battle is 50:50 to leave via Free Agency.

Have to agree with this

Port got rid of him for a reason

His defensive attributes are poor especially after he turns the ball over

Half Back/Wing players should be quick and evasive with ball in hand which he isn't

The only redeeming attribute he has is a penetrating left foot but currently that is not being used to our advantage
Sorry to jump in but you need the facts here. Hinkley hated him and from what I've heard Bonner didnt like Hinkley either (not many do). Bonner can play and plays well in big finals, look at the Bulldogs prelim for example. Your being critical of a player thats been at your club for 7 months and from what ive seen he's been one of your most consistent performers. Takes a while to get used to new players and the way they play.

Well I have seen enough facts

At times he has a laser left foot but inexplicably he can butcher the ball when we have momentum and his turnovers tend to be catastrophic

He can't run defensively to save himself

He has taken one contested mark all year and is all too easily beaten one on one

That Bulldogs Prelim Final in 2021 you lost by 71pts so his 32 possessions (3 contested) and his 1 tackle obviously didn't do any damage ..... just like his 25+ possessions 1 tackle efforts he has been notching up this year

He ain't the answer off half back where we have Sinclair and NAS nor on the wing where we have Wilson & Wood who can push forward and push back

Thanks for your perspective. I am not a great fan of Bonner, but I don't agree with the thought by some that he is gun shy in defence. He certainly isn't a tackling machine, but I don't see him shirk it when it's his time to go.
Like NAZ his turnovers look terrible because he is a half back that usually sets up the play so they are unforced.
For some reason though I can't get excited by him. Maybe in time.

Bonner looks like he’s trying to mimic Gryan Miers at times with an around the body sliding pass - they’re his worst ones every time. His straight line kicking is quite reliable I feel. If he keeps things fairly simple I like him in our side overall

Makes no sense to note this, unless you are a St Kilda fan.....

Remember the season one before last, Brisbane were home track bullies, beating everyone at the Gabba but failing to to win a single game in Melbourne.

Until....of course...they faced the mighty Saints at Marvel, and managed to shake the voodoo.
