Oddball decisions if you ask me (no one ever does, so thank f*** I'm lazy and don't post often...).

Meek and Banfield. Very meh. Welcome back Hamling though, was excellent in 2019 but I'd imagine he'd be rusty. Let's hope he gets through unscathed and can find some early form.

And welcome back Aish, Herc and Big Darce into the team.

But that aside, it's all a bit confusing. Aish, Hamling...limited or next to no game time in the pre-season. Why no Sturt?! He played in the intra-club games. Surely he's an upgrade on Banfield even if not massively match fit, the less games he gets at AFL level the more worried I become he'll be another Bennell type, getting games down at Peel only to get injured there....meh, I dunno. Treacy out is garbage too....perplexing to say the least.

I don't see many midfield rotations. Might have to do something like we did in the Derby.

Brayshaw, Serong, Brodie

The next line are players like Tucker, Aish, Switkowski, Acres, Colyer, Banfield, (possibly Walters)

Also, "debuting" NOD as a medical sub?! Please god surely not, otherwise might have to send Bevo down to the West Australian for a stoush, those barstards told us Drisc was playing

If meek is only going to be a part time ruck then WTF is he doing on the park? He offers zero tackle pressure I50, unlike Treacy, he’s got no goal sense at all, amd his handballing through traffic is very erratic. The saints will be waltzing the ball out of D50 at their leisure if Treacy isn’t there. The only positive is that meek is a useful centre bounce ruckman possibly better than Darcy in that aspect, but that’s it.
We will need to kick 14 odd goals this weekend and who’s going to kick them?

It really puts the onus on Lobb to stand up.

I hope Darcy plays forward, the guy has goals in him. He will definitely worry the defence and bring it to ground.

He’s also a better mark than Treacy imo.

That 22 should be good enough.

I've no argument against that, only thing I can say is Darce does hit the big sticks for a "lumbering ruckman", he kicked 12 goals last year, not too shabby a return. If he's plonked in the forward line for longer stints he WILL mark a few (also dependent on if it's really dewy or wet!), it's just whether he puts them through or not - it's a whole 'nother year on now

Relying on The Worst for Freo scoops, never a good idea.
Agreed. Not me, only going off what was posted in here ealier, they did put it into print though...live and die by the sword and all that

Darcy will be the part time forward/ruck.
You don’t get pressure from a tall, that’s the small snot doing their work after the packs/stoppages I50. That’s Schulz, Switta, Frederick, Banfield

I don't see it as three rucks.

I see it as Darcy and Meek in the ruck. And Lobb is playing the role of Matt Taberner.
Exactly how I see it too. Lobb is never a ruck. He’s a part timer. Perfect for him, as he stated he doesn’t want to play ruck and instead full time forward- which is the case this week.

i think we're too tall and this selection has me going from feeling 'somewhat comfortable' to 'squeaky bum time'.

nonsensical to play all 3 of Lobb, Meek and Darcy at once.
See it this way.
Lobb is FF. He won’t be rucking. No Tabs means Lobb is the central target. Darcy is playing the role in which Lobb regularly does. Meek will be the preferred ruck.
It would be too tall IF Tabs and Treacy were playing, which they’re not

If Hamling slots in and plays really well (no injuries obvs..) and the defense as a whole is stingy.....do we 'experiment' with the idea of Cox forward again in future games?! I feel like Cox could add something forward if tried there once again - more experience/awareness etc (???)

Darcy will be the part time forward/ruck.

That's the real value of Treacy: He adds that pressure that you don't get from very many talls as well as bring the ball to ground from the contest if not take the grab

I hope Switta has a 'break out game' and kicks a bag. I'm going early - Switta to kick 7!

HEADLINE YOU WILL SEE: Freo goal sneak sends Saints marching after 7th heaven! ;)

Unless I'm very mistaken the eighteen named on the field are confirmed to play, and then four are selected from the eight man extended bench. So the four players who won't play from the squad have to be Liam Henry, Josh Treacy, Heath Chapman, Will Brodie, Luke Ryan, Nathan O'Driscoll, Joel Hamling or Brandon Walker.

I am fairly sure they can make changes to on field named 18.

Is that what we want from our kpfs though?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have, but his job needs to be to kick goals.

I think he will get there but he’s still raw.

Look we will have to wait and see what happens on Sunday but i will say if we play a kid on debut as the medical sub then that is absolutely pathetic and disgraceful from match committee.

If NOD cant make 22 then leave him out all together and just put Henry as Sub.

AFL debuts should be a moment to remember dont make the kid sit on the pine not knowing if he will get on or not.

GWA deservedly copped flak last year for doing it too some kid who never got on the field for his debut.

Yep. Not the way the medical sub should be 'used' in my opinion. I don't like it

I wouldn't use Henry as the Sub, you want your sub to be flexible. Nods is more flexible than Henry.

When you're playing Tall or there are serious question marks over the defensive capabilities of your small forwards it's a very handy thing to have.
