I don't like Banfield playing forward myself, he's a midfielder. But did you guys ever think that Longmuir likes the guy and thinks he deserves a spot?

I'd hope that's the reason he keeps getting picked!

It'd be very questionable decision making otherwise.

9/10 it's what happens though. I can't remember the last time someone was listed on field and then dropped the next day.
9/10 yes, as I say its a guideline however its not 100% and players do get dropped from the 18 in squads

EDIT: Prime example, Dusty Martin literally yesterday/today

Playing three ruckmen, dropping Treacy and keeping poor performers in Banners and Walters is stupid.

Eh maybe I’m the odd duck out but I am a fan of the changes, Henry and Treacy both had forgettable outings and Meek was solid. If the coaches and selection committee who have actually been in the industry for a number of years think that the 3 talls is the right option, then I’m backing them in.

I am hoping there's some master plan in place because standard footballing logic (not that it's the be all and end all) would suggest we are top-heavy in wet conditions.

Treacy might be a tall but at least he's more mobile than Meek/Darcy/Lobb.

Given Brodie wasn’t dropped I haven’t lost my shit completely. But Meek, Darcy and Lobb is incredibly stupid. Banfield playing ahead of Treacy tops off the stupidity.
Statistically Banfield offered more last week than Treacy... They've dropped the two players who offered the least, Henry, and Treacy. The third, Walters, has the runs on the board to get a few more chances. Walters also brings leadership.

AFL Reg 11.2 (a) doesn't require us to name a squad prior to the day before the match. It doesn't mention choosing from eight interchange players named.

I've always understood the convention to be that the eighteen named on the field are playing and the interchange is trimmed to four - but it doesn't appear to be codified here.

Seems way too tall for the predicted weather, both in the lead up to and during the game. Team selection has been, and continues to be, the most confusing thing I find about JL as a coach
As has been mentioned many times, it is predicted to be DRY on Sunday afternoon.

I am not feeling great about this game or this season, teams like St Kilda always seem to play well against us , some random dude will kick 5+ goals on us.

In the absence of a melt thread , seeing us start 2022 with yet again some of our best players missing I will say here I wonder if we have faffed up our rebuild, recruiting and drafting etc.

Other teams seem happy to put their high draft picks on the park as quickly as possible yet Freo seems happy to play B listers in their place.
