Cripps is such a dickhole. Not only did he rob us of Ah Chee for half the game and next week, he's now likely to miss two games against other top 4 teams where we'd actually like the Blosers to win. Bloody idiot.

positivity all the way through to finals!

Big O lovely stuff.
Andrews looking better
Bailey hopefully back in form for good
Coleman sleek
I liked Hipwood roaming, a bit iffy goalshooting though
Rayner was very impactful

Lets hope Ah Chee is alright, as well as Adams.

Carlton has shown to have goalkicking ability. Their first flurry came about from some blood rush and and horrid umpiring decisions. We arrested that surge and got it back on our terms.

The second flurry was more concerning, and was helped by Neale and some others actively gifting them the ball on several occasions. I'm fine with a lessening of pressure, but to combine that with some bad errors just is too much.

Anyway we settled on that too which is good. 15 minutes of bad play compared to the rest of the game where we were comfortably on top. That same 15 minutes of bad play may only end up with 4 goals in another game. Who knows.

My personal positive outlook for that is now that it has happened twice in a row, we will have a really good analysis on it and self reflection. Better happen now than in finals.

Hopefully that will hold us in good stead for when we have a big lead in a final (inevitable :p)

Anyway, I hope we all give props to Big O. He was dang magnificent today.

oh and finally, a big **** you to Cripps, and even more so to the entire commentary team. I don't care if you don't carry on like us supporters calling for blood. But at least be neutral about it and not be so transparent in your insane bias for the 'stars of the game'. He deserves weeks, and will hopefully get them.
mods took so long to open this thread and I have the adrenaline pumping i wrote this in notepad... good lord

we need to master the art of running down the clock and arresting momentum. some of our players great at it (rayner) others show very low footy iq in those circumstances

hard to pick votes

neale, big o, bailey, McStay

tough choice between Gardiner and Andrews for my final vote. gave it to Gardiner

Second game I’ve watched this week to prove we are still off the very best.

Said in the game day thread we’d take the foot off the gas, it’s what we do and with a 5 day break in a way it makes sense. But taking the foot off the gas doesn’t mean giving your opponent a chance with 5 to play.

That was almost worse than last week and no way should the players get an out for that. I’m glad to see Zorks was ****** at the end, so he should. If they’ve just blown a top 4 slot they deserve what they get in the end.

Super frustrating final term but will obviously take a win with that margin against a top 8 side.

Great to see Bailey back to his best. Oscar was excellent even if there wasn't much competition. Thought Gardiner was good too, looked confident in defence. Coleman and Matho were influential too.

Neale and Zorko both pretty poor in that final term after having 3 good quarters prior to that.

We showed in that second term that we know how to arrest momentum and get the game back on our terms. The challenge for the group is doing that consistently as these momentum swings against us are our biggest threat going into the business end of the year.

Oscar great. McStay looked far and away the best he has in the r/f role and played his best game for the year. Bailey back is a boon. Really strong performance for three quarters. Need to address how easily we can be scored against, how we handle momentum shifts and how we cover periods where the opposition gets on top in the midfield.

Beat the Saints & Melbourne, hope Collingwood loses 1 game and we'll get 2nd.

These lapses are killing us though and undo all the great work of our first half efforts. We demolished the Blues today, yet they brought it back to 15 points and could have won the unwinnable. We destroyed the Tigers last week in the first half and lost.

It's hard to find optimism that we can do damage in finals when all teams have to do is bring their A+ pressure game and we just fold.

Yet if we win our last 2 games, Top 4 is a certainty, so it is hard to be all doom & gloom. When we bring out best footy, I truly believe we can win the flag. Just need to sustain it for longer and minimise the damage done the other way when we are having a sluggish period.
