Important win. First win of the season where I felt we didn't deserve to win but managed to find a way

49 marks between Rayner, Zorko, Linc, Gunston and Hipwood. Half forwards worked hard to provide an option meaning we didn't have to go long down the long or pull off too many crazy kicks

Clearances a huge worry but we should bounce back. Defence was a bit shaky but not too bad

Zorko played the role he has to as that extra forward

No changes apart from if Kiddy or Oscar come back they replace Fort and Prior

Thought Berry, Linc and Cal were our best. Thought Joe, Hugh, Harris and Charlie weren’t bad either.

Lachie’s form is a bit of a worry. He ended up with 25, although not sure how much influence he had with those touches. His opponent is also getting plenty of the ball also.

Dunks had his worst game for us, so to have him and Lachie both off and getting a win is a positive sign.

Still need to get another midfielder in if these 2 have off games and I’m not sure Zac is it.

Learned that Fort isn’t it. Whilst Oscar isn’t great, he’s probably the better of the two.

If Zac can find his pre injury form we'll be ok. Clearly lacking match fitness today. Hardly went near the ball in the second half

Harsh on Fort with his first full game rucking this season

Really good win against a team who aren't as bad as their position suggests, and who brought such a high intensity pressure to the game for all 4 quarters. We weren't able to match the Suns pressure at all last week, so to turn around the next week and step up like we did, after travelling to Perth as well, was impressive.

Those writing Zorko off were premature, always takes the older guys more games back to get into the groove... IMO if he gets through to finals uninjured with a run of games behind him he will be a serious weapon for us come September.

Zorko is still a very good half forward, I just didn't want him as our third mid.

Lester was absolutely fantastic today. I really don’t think he lost a contest. Absolutely ROCK SOLID. So pleased for him.

Finals intensity type game in the end against a team on their home turf who were extremely desperate for a win to stay in touch with finals.
Really good win ultimately, for a team not playing their best footy and looking like they are really struggling with confidence, particularly early in the game.
So glad that we showed the desperation required to get through the game with a win.
Berry and Zorko good early but I don't like Zorko in the centre and the whole team in the end did what was required to just win enough contests to win the game.
AhChee, Linc and Joe really showing that he is a Lion

The nuffies on this board who pot Joe and say he doesn’t care, watch that last 5 minutes. Worked his butt off. Has had an excellent year.
I came here to say the exact same. He has been massive this year. His defensive intensity is at a level we haven’t seen. I understand he can be frustrating but he is absolutely vital to us.

He may not have lost a contest himself but could have showed a bit more desperation to help others on atleast 2 occasions that I noticed.

He provides a real point of difference in our midfield which can be quite same same.

Lot to like about that. Thought we handled that last quarter really well. Immense pressure (from the opposition, atmosphere and prize in the line) and really stood up under it.
I thought they were actually the better side for the bulk of that match, so to come away with a win is a massive effort.

I thought we missed Kiddy Coleman's distribution out of the back half and up on the wing... desperate for him to be back next week against the Crows.
The difference between Coleman and Wilmot, etc was very noticeable today

Had a great game. His ruckwork looks different in person than it does on TV IMO.
He also was a bit more physical with Jackson than some of the big bodies out there

Lots of things to work on obviously but two things we must fix asap:

1. Opposition rucks completely dominating - Gawn, Witts, and Jackson have just about been BOG the last 3 weeks, and
2. Our horrendous tackling. The number of tackles we fall off!!!

But anyway, a match I thought we had no hope of winning, so I might give myself the night off from being too negative.
