It’s Grand Final time this week, all the best to those still in it, and to the guys pushing for overall ranking.

This week Ablett does not look as tempting as usual (on paper anyway), neither does Swan.

Stanton, Corey and Bartel look good on the stats sheet but will that be enough to take the captaincy off Swan and Ablett?

The last time I will ask this question for 2009….. Who is your captain this week?

Will be a very tough decision this week. Swan, Ablett, Bartel, Hayes, Stanton, Pavlich and Goddard all in the mix. Will have to have a good think about it.

Have gone with Pav two weeks in a row and he's let me down twice, so I think I'll avoid him. Will be hard to go past Corey this week I think. Could also go with Boyd or Goddard.

Am liking Selwood against Freo + he's in killer form recently. Other options are Goddard, Bartel, Riewoldt or Mitch Clark...
Probably Selwood Captain and Goddard VC.

BTW, good work for the year Beanie - been a great help:thumbsu:.

Is anyone worried about key players getting benched and missing portions of the game in teams that can't change position. Important when picking a captain. Ablett or bartel getting benched for last quarter. Swan maybe depending on score. Even Judd Murphy Gibbs. People important to the team for finals that might get put in cotton wool early.

Would it then be better to go for a Stanton, Lewis or even Priddis at home

You really only put a player on ice for say the last 5-10 minutes. Sitting Ablett, for example, on the bench for an entire quarter would completely mess up the rotations and unnecessarily fatigue his teammates.

Heaps of options this week, and it could be a massive DT round looking at the draw.

Deledio - form, against WC, at subiaco, 110 last time they played
Corey - 4 tonnes in a row against freo and in ominous form
Stanton - Against hawks and has scored 99+ last 5 times against them, including 147 and 123 last two times
Montagna - 3 tonnes in a row against melb, including 146 last time
Thompson - great form, and 113, 87, 120, 101, 98 against carlton
Goddard - 108, 116, 132 in his last 3 against melbourne

All look very very nice.

Looking through my only opponent's team this week, it looks like he'll have to go with Ablett. Since I'm confident that I can beat him (he's ranked 12000th, I'm ranked 2000th) I'll just go with Ablett aswell.

If your opponent has any sort of problem solving skills if he is a rank outsider he should be looking at someone "out of the box". This week if your a favourite go conservative and if your a roughy at least go out swinging...

SGMB good post as usual

Tossing up between Ablett,Selwood or Goddard

Who do you think?

I think I decided to go Stanton captain for round 22 about halfway through the season. Will not even consider any other options. If he scores 600 points and every other player in the competition is injured and I'm the only person who puts him captain, I'm a chance for the car.

Was tagged by De Boer this year actually, since Crowley was out. Odds are he will be tagged by De Boer again.

I'm thinking Reiwoldt might get the gig this week.

I know Abletts last few against Freo don't read well but wouldn't Crowley have been tagging him?

Ablett normally gets the Crowley tag, but last time it was actually Dodd as far as I can remember. Schammer may have spent some time on him too. DeBoer actually tagged Selwood I think.

Last week Picken tagged Ablett. Picken has been good this year, but Ablett just blew him apart. I'd be very surprised if Dodd or DeBoer can do any better.
