When Rich, Rockliff and Beam slowly return to the team, they will be a great boost to the team.

In the meantime, it's a good chance for the youngsters to step up and really work hard for that spot. Interesting game, we've got a lot of experience missing but you never know. It takes a team to be off by just a bit to get toppled over by a young and exciting team. Still, keeping my expectations in check and will be happy with a 5 goal loss at Simmonds.

Hammo reporting in the paper that the Suns believe we are keeping both Rich and Rocky safe for the Suns game.

I know the club reported Rocky would miss two games but this makes sense to me.

How could I forget the Suns game?

..oh the joy, it just keeps getting better and better!:(

Yeah, it does feel like we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. As disheartening as it is to be missing 3 of our best 4 midfielders, getting them all back in the next few weeks will be a real positive. I'm not expecting miracles on their return though. I think we'll see Rocky and Beams spend a lot of time forward to start with and that will mean we are still running our B team midfield for too long to be at our absolute best.

But, bloody hell it would be nice to get them on the paddock together.

I hope Rog plays on Hawkins and keeps him quiet and we keep the score board moving like we have in the first two rounds.

I want us to get at least 65% of the Geelong score so we stay above Freo.

It'd be fantastic if we could avoid a low score.

80+ would be ideal really.

I've got a slight simmering hope that we could actually win this game and I'm not sure why.

I think McStay looks more at home as a defender - he seems to be better reacting than being proactive as a forward. I remember taking some anger out last season at him seeming lazy as forward but then again our forward line last season wasn't exactly functional

Hopefully be a good game - looking forward to seeing how Evans goes and of course how many Schache can kick

I think it is concentration more than laziness and I saw it last week at times too. I think he ball watches a bit too often and an opponent who moves proactively catches him out. Needs to anticipate play better.

Anything less than a 30 point defeat would be a victory given the circumstances. We're in our 3rd year under leppa and we have to "at least" have some standards now. If we get blown out of the water, you can bet your ass i will be creating a Leppa coaching discussion thread. We might be scoring more now, but all of that will be in vain if we can't actually take it to teams until the end or even win a game.

We are the youngest team in the competition away against a Top 4 hope, without three of our best players, paying >$10 to win the game and the market would suggest that an above par performance would be any loss <54.5. Realistically in my opinion the par has to be a bit more conservative here than what you've set. Get the impression you are itching to have a crack at Leppa.

I'm not asking for a win, just merely a solid crack at the game. Younger teams have beaten better teams, so the youth card is no excuse for not showing up today. I'm also not having a crack at leppa as we have only played two games. However, i will garuntee you that i will be if we are 0-7 by the end of round 7. Until then, i remain relatively judge-less.

Apologies Mods for going off the topic of game day, but unless we beat the Suns, then I fear we will be 0-7 as we have

  • Away @ Dogs
  • Home to Sydney
  • Away @ Power
in Rounds 5-7. As a few media have said during the week, our Rd1-8 draw is approaching 'hardest possible' territory.

West Coast
North
Geelong
Suns
Bulldogs
Sydney
Power

This really isn't that insane of a top 7 at the end of the season. And that's what we get at the start of the year.

Got to play them all, not denying that. Wish that it got spaced out a bit though.

The Horror!!

Now now. I am confident such a thread would comprise a detailed, eloquent opening post full of clear, thoughtful arguments substantiated by appropriate evidence and examples, and a healthy dose of perspective that acknowledges the current state of our rebuild, our fixture, injuries, level of resourcing and the inexperience of our list.

Furthermore, I am certain that the OP would respond to any counterpoints raised in an highly engaged manner that respects the conventions of intelligent discourse. It goes without saying that there would be no trite little hit-and-run, facetious one-liners but rather a healthy and vibrant exchange of viewpoints leading to an ultimately satisfying and stimulating discussion for all involved.

A little off-topic, however i assure you that "if" a thread were to be created, it would be done in good tastes. I try to be as impartial as possible and i believe the discussion topic itself would best reflect my unbiased posting style. Furthermore, i believe it's creation is imperative for those (like myself) whom wishes to have a thread where opinions are both heard and valued. I also assure you that it won't be a replication of a vent thread (which i am sure that you are expecting) but rather a civil forum where peers (like you and i) can discuss and rate Leppa's coaching tactics. Now, i won't expedite myself to make it right away; however i hope that this response clears your concern for my "tentative" plans.

I view Power as winnable at the moment at least.
