The rot started in the first few minutes when we got stiffed of the opening goal. Important for confidence and momentum.

We’re used to it. Generally we’ll get one game where they put in and come close eg against St Kilda or we’ll pull off an upset eg Essendon last year and the rest are usual pitiful efforts like today.

Something has to be wrong with Beams; he is just plodding out there tonight with no intensity or desire; just seems highly uncharacteristic.

He’s just too slow unfortunately. His hands are great below the knees but can’t handle this much pressure and seem unable to accumulate or work back defensively. Showed signs of this last year but it’s become a bigger worry this year and without him and Zorko playing well it’s hard to see us winning more than a couple of games.

I don't like this sentiment here that if you have a go at someone who goes over the top with their abuse of the team you are somehow indicating that you are happy with their performance

Growth isn't linear. These moments will come. I'm not too phased on the whole, but am worried about Beams. Think Mayes for Rich is looking an obvious change next week too.

Would like to see us win the second half. A small win, but would show growth from these games a few years ago where the margin would double by the end.

I don’t think he’s ever been the fittest and it looks like he’s had no core strength since his knee injuries.

The bad feeling I had about Hodge coming in and the effect it would have on our leaders/captain is getting stronger......our backline looks shot, they weren't last year.......Beams and Zorko have been out of sorts since the start (allowing for Beams greiving)

Nothing against Hodge personally, just feel the balance and leadership as been thown out of whack. Perhaps our boys feel they have to defer to Hodge, older players can lose confidence too.

......whatever, but something is not right since he arrived.

If you can't have a crack at your football club for a showing like this maybe you don't care enough. Maybe I should try the delusional take on things. An hour of football ZERO goals, just think about that.
