Friday night games feel so weird. Or is it just me? Nervous as hell.

Don't care how close it is, hope we just fall over the line. Like golf you don't sit down after each hole and draw a map of how you played the hole you just write down a score. Would be great to have the 4 pints on our book this week and just move to the next game.

Look folks, this is how it is - we were the better side both times last year, but were robbed of the win down there.

We have improved into this year, and I don't think they've been that impressive.

Friday night footy, time to back up the training drill last week with a big win against a contender on a ground we haven't won at for years.

Not sold on Fort as yet. This will be a huge test for him and the team against a side who are not easybeats on their home turf. If we were playing them at the Gabba I would predict a 3-4 goal win but down there we will need to work hard and stick fast to Fagan's game plan for four 1/4's.

Fort is going to have his best ever game, and we are going to be rabid fans by the end of the game.

The Geelong/Fort trade will replace the Suns/Zorko and Suns/Lyons 'why did they let him go conversation'.

Not sure why but right now I have a quiet confidence about this game. This will 100% evaporate as soon as the game starts but something in me feels we are ready for this challenge now. That's the key i think - it's a big challenge down there v cats. We went close last time albeit Geelong had players out.

Agree with others it has a 'bleeds we can kill it' sort of vibe in the way we are setting ourselves. Although funnily enough Fages would never be that definitive! No coaches are really. It was a pretty risky strategy if we lost. Must have judged he needed to fire up our competitive instincts.

The only downside I see is we are now missing 2/4 of our best forward marking targets, if you assume they are Daniher / McStay / Oscar / Hippy. It's often not about who is out but if any one area is hit hard. So a lot depends on Fort and Fullarton. They don't need to star, but we need Fort to ideally win the ruck duel or break even, and Fullarton just to be a target, not get out-marked and perhaps in that sense even play a bit of a tagging role on Tom Stewart to stop him intercepting. Daniher is playing well and splitting packs. McStay needs to step up and should have been given a rev-up. Small forwards are in good form.

Defence I think we are looking better this year. Really solid back 7, good mix of defence and attack. Adams to Hawkins a good match-up, if Gardiner can do a decent job on Cameron that would be a huge win.

Midfield will be interesting as Neale was easily blanketed last time but quite injured. He was tagged successfully last week - i hope we plan for a bit more support for him vs MOC. Berry might be good at that. Could he go to Dangerfield? He's the clear danger in terms of centre bounces. Parfitt also taken another step this year. I think it looms as a pretty even midfield contest. Lyons seemed to find form vs North and is an underrated barometer I think.

Reading other posters with their quiet confidence has my anxiety at full noise. Maybe that's the coffee talking, but I'm more comfortable being nervous than confident!
Love the narrative around Fort going into this - he will want to prove a point. Stanley will want to beat him in the ruck to show Geelong were right. Big O being out heightens the stage this will be played out.
Dan stepped up when we needed him to last year after Hipwood's injury, and I'm hoping the same happens tonight. He has had a relatively slow start but has built a little bit through the 3 games so far. Good to see fullarton getting a shot and would like to see him at least bring ball to ground.

Loving what we have seen from Cockatoo to date. Haven't heard too much narrative around him leading into this, but another one that would love to have a stormer

The whole team announced last night (inc emergencies) are there, except Neale. Either they're playing ducks and drakes perhaps (unlikely) or it looks like he didn't travel with the team, or certainly wasn't around when this photo was taken anyway.

Currently 23.6 degrees in Gtown, light wind. But if it’s like yesterday, will cool down considerably when the sun sets.
Be interesting how the missing stand behind the goals affects the play/game. With minimal wind, may not be a factor

Trying to view the tickets my son has bought for tonight's game and failing. Gee I hate these digital tickets but I have an idea for a humorous skit.

Group of people are trying to buy tickets for something and the site drops out, the site is unnavigable, they keep making you change your password etc.

Slow they all realize that they have all died, and this is hell!!!!!

We'll give those Cats hell tonight. The second last time (I think) we won down there my twin boys were the mascots and ran out with the seniors. Might have to jump the fence after the game like we did in 1998.

Digital/phone tickets are a pain in the arse and cause more bottlenecks at entrance points than the bar coded membership cards ever did.... bring back the f ing cards please.
