Serious question, is Cutler already better than Docherty?

Reckon we might be on the way soon to chalking that one as a trade success. Justice considering how unreasonable Carlton were.

Absolutely, as James North said, Docherty never had as good a game as that in his tenure at the Lions. More than that, Cutler's disposal and composure is already above that of Docherty's, but what impresses me most about Cutler is that indescribable manner he gets around the park that only the upper echelon players move. Sure they're big wraps, but I haven't been this excited about a kid since Dan Rich and that's even eclipsing the likes of Mayes.

For those draft watcher's out there; what position did Cutler predominantly play for Vic Metro and Oakleigh ?? as a junior?

The reason I ask; is there any chance he could develop into your big sized mid ala Pendlebury, Kennedy, Watson etc.

Any young lad in his debut that gets in the grill of an aggressive forward is a solid acquisition in my book. Darcy Gardiner you little beauty.

Taylor again showed so much for a young and seriously undersized boy.

Cutler will have locked himself in for anotherie.

Aish is tired. I think he will be replaced by Green next week.

I wish Jordan Lisle could just get his act together and find something, just for my Mums sake. She's fond of her boy, why can't he repay her (and his other sponsors) by just sucking it up and having a go?

On the other hand - Robbo. What a freaking hardnut. Squizzy - Reminds me of the Energizer bunny. Loved Dizzy taking it up to Dusty too. :thumbsu:

I think I asked this question myself after seeing Cutler's first game in the NAB Cup, and I'm pretty confident in the answer. Just love this kid's composure with the ball.

Frustrating night but encouraging at the same time. I think we're all thinking that the future could be pretty bright if all of our young blokes stay and we get a few more in, makes this tough time a bit easier to bear.

As for Browny, he looked like the 2008/9 version out there tonight - heart of a lion, champion!

Cutler was smoooooooth and cut the half back line like a sharp knife through an Easter bun

I'm not commenting on West's game in any way, but do people think he will go the duration as sole ruck for a possible 12+ weeks?

(I thought he was good tonight)
I think West has been solid without setting the world on fire, I am more confident with him than Martin

Thought Hampson had the better of him to be honest, neither did a great deal around the ground.

Personally I think Lisle has given it a crack the past few weeks.Tonight for example there were moments where he presented a good option including one moment where he linked up on the half-back/wing area to assist our transition going forward (this was late in the 4th qtr). He genuinely looks like he is trying hard. But i see your point which is that he always seems devoid of confidence. The disposal ineffeciency, the fumbles, the lack of mongrol all seem to stem from some inexplicable lack of confidence. Leppa clearly has put faith in him by giving him a month in the top side. Short of booking him for a few sessions with a sports psychologist I am not sure what else will give him confidence.

In my opinion. He definitely has a go, but his lack of confidence really compromises his overall performance.

Apparently Hampson had 50 something hitouts to West's 25 or so, but I think all that shows is that hitouts is not the most reliable of stats. Hampson wasslightly better in the ruck, but West had more impact around the ground despite not getting much of the ball.

Again, going back to Rocky's comments on 360, Lewis Taylor's comments on the fancast and Schwab's presser, the high energy offensive play has always been part of the plan, we just hadn't been executing it.

I don't think this is Leppa starting afresh with a new/altered plan compared to previous weeks. I think it's just us getting a little bit better at doing what is required.

Even though we started badly, faded badly and were playing against what I think is a pretty ordinary side, I left feeling good.

A long way to go and a lot for the team to learn, but keep the core of those guys together for a couple of years, add Hanley, Luenberger and Rich back into the mix, find a forward to replace Browny and this is going to be a great team.

From what I saw of Leuenberger prior to his injury, I had more confidence in West, and that's not to say I wish Leuenberger wasn't injured.

Berger was complete rubbish last week pre-injury. I decided to put my rant aside on him, but I will say he is one of the most over rated players in the AFL. As a ruck he is solid and not too much better then the 2nd stringers like west
