Geelong have travelled outside of Victoria once this year - and lost to Gold Coast.

It's nice to get comfortable in the retirement home when 15 of your last 19 matches have been in your home state.

I expect the Eagles will be far more competitive than what is widely expected.

Geelong have many issues of their own to deal with, most significantly their apparent lack of conditioning to run out the latter part of matches.

If West Coast can weather the storm and stay competitive to three-quarter time, they will have the chance of being able to run over the Cats late.

Naturally that includes finding a means to shut down Cameron, who has been massive for them this month. Rotham will need help. Also their runners, Duncan and Holmes are the ones who will do the damage if they cannot be held accountable.

De Koning is a big in for Geelong. Is very good one-on-one and frees up Blicavs to play in the hybrid ruck-midfielder role that is so vital to their structure.

Remaining accountable around contest and killing the inside to outside connection at stoppage will be key in deciding this.

Geelong like to get their small forwards very high up the ground to support the midfield so Hunt, Jones, Duggan, Witherden, Hough will need to track them and hope that Barrass and Rotham don't become too exposed in isolation against Hawkins and Cameron.

Could be an interesting match. Geelong flat-track better than anyone else in the league when they are on top, but struggle to generate a score when things are not going their way.

It's very unlikely, but there are some ingredients here today for the makings of a very famous upset.

Horrible feeling today.

100+ I think.

Could be the day that hope is lost and David King/Kane Cornes make an over the top attention seeking statement about the it being ‘the darkest day in world history’.

**** you Dylan, don't go around giving us hope.

Doubt we would have many supporter going to this game. In Adelaide and against Geelong spells a shit show. Looks pretty empty on TV

I'd be surprised if we keep score under 60

Far out that was damning footage shown in the lead up on Fox Footy. Clark, SPS, West and Hewett all just jogging along whilst Melbourne waltzed it out of our backline last week.

Three marginal players fighting for their list spots and a first year player wanting to impress. Would have liked to have seen more intensity from that quartet compared to what that footage showed despite the result being a foregone conclusion at the time.

I had this preview in my Top 5 for 2023 so this is a great result.
Expecting a big effort today, don't expect a win but I can feel we are an outside chance at causing an upset. Really need good forward 50 entries and accurate goal kicking to be in with a shot though.

You mean that footage from the fourth quarter when the boys were spent?

Lol would be a fun watch already knowing what the final score is when it starts.
Probably plenty of WC antis that will tune in for an evening of entertainment.

Q. Nathan do you care who wins the Geelong West Coast game ?

A. No not really ..................... I like both teams.
