Game Day Round 6, 2024 - Brisbane Lions vs. Geelong

Closing in from the north west. I think anyone thinking this won’t be a bit of a slog is a bit of an optimist.

Hopefully our long dump kicks and strong contested game actually works in our favour in these conditions. Just need to make sure the forwards are strong in the contest.

Dare I say it but it could also be conditions tailor-made for another big game from Cam.

Great start to the day. Early morning beach fishing (no keepers), got the bacon, eggs and black pudding frying up. X blasting from the stereo, yes I still have a stereo. (Suck Suck by X, the greatest Australian song ever recorded. If it doesn't get you going you're dead inside. Check it out kids.) Bit of a nanna nap later, slow cook some ribs and I'll be all set for a great game tonight.

Any free kick goals are double value in the wet. Keep those tackles low on close and stengle. Don’t panic if you think a forward is going to mark there will be lots of double-grabbing.

Oscar is a good ruckman in the wet as he has no finesse!

The rain might help us. Will likely make their speedy players less of a factor, and make it harder for their key position players to clunk big marks.

Same for us of course, but we have less speedy players in transition anyway, and we tend to rely less on big pack marks, at either end.

Just chasing some Whiting, Dart, maybe a flathead if lucky. Got a handful but all undersized. Beaut morning tho. A whippy 9ft rod, a small egg beater reel and a few worms. Bit early in the year for tailor but looking fwd to the run when it happens. July till September best here on the sunny coast.

Saw some really meaty beef short ribs at the butchers and couldn't resist. A good dry rub, slow roast in oven, then for the last hour brush on a nice spicy sticky BBQ sauce every now n then. A bit of coleslaw, potato salad and a cpl of beers, perfect.

If needed use your umbrella to and from the stadium.
You are allowed to take the umbrella inside.
Once inside you can't have it in use while seated.
