Parfitt hasn't come on quite as Cats hoped.
He plateaued, thinking he was doing enough.
Needs to work on his skills, add strings to his bow.
Must be more creative and dangerous ball user
More consistent, fitter, aggressive and smarter
Playing like he used to is not enough any more.
Up to him to rise to the challenge or get passed by.
It's not that easy to change the way you play. Parfitt would have slowed down a bit. He could work on his fitness in terms of running and maybe do more match simulation training to help with making quick decisions instead of hesitating. Maybe it's a coaching problem.

What's everyone's take on what is going on with Parfitt. He was dreadful at the weekend. Is he trying too hard or is it confidence? Should we perservere with him knowing he is a lot better than how he has been playing.
I'd say it's a mix of everything, he fell outta favor last year and seems to have lost all confidence, he went from best 22 to being a fringe player and now is under even more pressure with Bowes and Bruhn fighting for midfield time.

Every player has things they cannot change ie: Physical Attributes
All players have the capacity to improve their deficiencies and skills
Learning to dispose of the ball quicker and more accurately...
Using either foot and hand.. better decision making... takes practice.
Running harder and smarter to contests and provide a link... is work rate

Surely the Swans will be fired up. They got humiliated in the GF 6 months ago. If that doesn’t motivate them then nothing will.

Really tough ask for us to win this one to be honest.
Losing Grand finalists have a poor record against their nemesis the first game the next season.

I was reading an article last night where they said since 2000, the premiers have won 13 of the 23 grand final replays the following season. However, when the game has been played early in the season, the premiers have won 11 of 13. The only two times the premiers lost early in the season was Hawthorn vs us in 2009 and Adelaide against Richmond in 2018.

What does the MC do about Stenga's role. Big role to play while he's gone.
Closey got back to some form we know he can. Gryan has been our most consistent of the 3.
Interesting that Jezza's form against the swan's isn't good and his record in playing at Kardinia Pk beit with the giants and now the cat's isnt good.

Rohan in for Stengle.

That's the article I read.

I rate Ceglar that lowly that I would ruck Blicavs and Ratugolea ahead of him. I know it won‘t happen but it should.

A key for us is who goes to Papley, he was electric versus Richmond. Hopefully Bews is back for the matchup or otherwise it might be a job for O’Connor.

Rata is not going to be pulled out of the backline when hes only just learning it, to ruck.
The only other option is sdk but you dont use a ferrari to do a commodores job and risk it getting kneed all day-you let the commodore get battered. Which is why ceglar will play (sadly).

Agree on bews later in the year i think he is borderline best 22 but this week he is needed.

We beat Hawks twice in 2009
We beat Tigers twice in 2021
That's our most recent GF loss situation.

Is Bews free to play again yet?

Changes for this week.
In: Rohan, Ceglar
Out: Stengle, Stanley

Not sure if Bews comes in or not. Maybe Bews in and Tuohy the sub? Parfitt for me needs to go back to VFL to get his confidence up.

Maybe that doesn't work for him- he needs to be part of the pace of the real game, and he should have time and opportunity to do so now.

It’ll be a disaster if we don’t beat Sydney this week - they are missing Buddy, Reid, Amartey, Hickey, Tom McCartin, Paddy McCartin, Rampe. That’s 6 of their talls plus an A-grade defender

I wonder if Tom would like to pass Joel's mark, or retire once he reaches it so they both hold the record.
Do a Mark Taylor and declare on 334 Not out....

Not more than Bradman.... but the same

Could totally see it.

Swans will be without Tom McCartin, Rampe, Franklin, Hickey and Reid. That evens things up when we are short Stanley, J Henry, Stengle and probably Bews. May even tip it in our favour especially down home.

Papley will lead MOC on a merry Irish jig I feel.... I hope im wrong and would luv Bews to be back but I reckon he's still in protocols.

Be happy for MOC to feed me a big hat and shut Papley down as you suggest.

He was, but a couple of howlers by the younger Richmond guys handed him goals and then they fell apart in the last quarter. Have zero respect for him when the opposition is decent and the pressure is on (see 2022 Grand final).

If it is dry and we win in the midfield it should mean we win handsomely as our forward line should do the job on an undermanned Swans defence.

Hi folks, I come in peace.
Keeper league question, how is Sam Simpson progressing? Do you see him getting games soon?
Cheers.
