This is absolutely true. But it is far, far easier said than done, based on the output of our mids group so far this season. We have had plenty of quarters where they appear to have barely turned up at all.

Definitely, and I have my doubts over Ceglars ability to provide us with first opportunities as well. This is just a must win game though. Cats by 20pts.

Agree with others that the game will be won in the mid-field; if we win centre clearances we get goals - it's that simple. If the Swans win at the bounce Papley and others get their chance. The young Swans surely won't choke again like they did on GF day.

Paddy will need to play big game and get more support from the other mids, especially Guthrie.

It's frustrating that Neale can't play when there is a spot, especially as we may lose him if he is denied a reasonable opportunity this season. He is far and away our best big man prospect.

Like most I'm a bit apprehensive about Ceglar as our no. 1 ruck. But this is why he was recruited, so I'm hopeful he can breakeven, which is all we require of him.

Otherwise it would have to be a combo of Esava and Blicavs. However, that would be less than ideal. Esava finally seems to be improving with a defined role down back. Taking him away for 6 weeks would really hamper his development. Likewise, making Blicavs ruck for most of the day would take away one of our big assets of having him as a mid utility

Horse got it handed to him last time...

I doubt he lets it happen again 2 games in a row

Be nice if it happened however...

Guess we'll have to saddle up and see - I just hope the boys don't foal around with the footy. But there's neigh chance we'll take them for granted, if we rein their mane players in early they shouldn't stirrup too much trouble and the Cats can stay sable. How do I know all this? Straight from the horses mouth.

Mention of Darcy Fort is painful. He always seems to play a useful game when he gets his opportunities at Brisbane. I guess it was the right move at the time.

If Ceglar gets his mitts on the ball first at the clearances that would be job done; he just needs to ensure it's an even contest at the bounce so that Danger can do his thing with e support of Atkins and Holmes. I'm assuming Parfitt won't play and nor should he on form. But if he does play he'll need to do more than lay a few tackles.

I think the boys will be up for this one but geez the swans are a good side so it’ll be a challenge
They're inconsistent. Poor against Melbourne away and Port at home, decent against Gold Coast, Hawthorn and a decimated Richmond. While they are halfway decimated themselves so I guess the latter one is cancelled out. But its not exactly them at their full strength, 100% in form best. Having said that, they may find that gear for this game. I'm just saying it hasn't always been there so far this season.

We will need to reign in Warner and Papley and put Ladhams to the sword. I am concerned that McInnerny might get a good peace of SDK so we will need to support him to the hilt.

[poor attempt but fun trying]

Fun fact:

Tom Hawkins passes Corey Enright's 332 games and into outright 2nd on the games played list for the club.

Outstanding that 2 players from the same draft - 2006 - will occupy the top 2 places in games played for the club.

Is this the first year we've done a special guernsey for ANZAC Day?

I'm not 100% sure

Am I right in thinking that a few years back when Anzac Day fell on a weekend we played Fremantle out west on Anzac Day (night) - if so, would we have worn a special guernsey then?

I wonder if Tom would like to pass Joel's mark, or retire once he reaches it so they both hold the record.

The only way he breaks it is if he plays on next year. The likelihood of that being in the early rounds, so I'll assume if he plays on next year he'll break it..

Nowhere near as much of a fan of cricket as I am footy but I remember former captain Mark Taylor declaring on 334 not out, equalling Don Bradman's record Test score but not beating it.

What's everyone's take on what is going on with Parfitt. He was dreadful at the weekend. Is he trying too hard or is it confidence? Should we perservere with him knowing he is a lot better than how he has been playing.
Parfitt hasn't come on quite as Cats hoped.
He plateaued, thinking he was doing enough.
Needs to work on his skills, add strings to his bow.
Must be more creative and dangerous ball user
More consistent, fitter, aggressive and smarter
Playing like he used to is not enough any more.
Up to him to rise to the challenge or get passed by.

Neale is not a ruck. I tihnk he is a Key forward only and a good one at that.

He probably isnt but he will be doing some emergency ruck training when he returns as him and ceglar are the only options besides blitz until the msd.

Its not like we are denying him games though hes just injured
