Interesting that Gibbs has already been ruled out of the Melbourne game so early into the week. No passing fitness test on thursday or anything. Bet it turns out to be a 2-3 week layoff.

I went:

Dwyer > SJ
M. Jones > Laird (Goodes mid)

The way I see it, Goodes has more scoring potential than Jones but is also a backman where the smallest scorers are generally found. Trade out Jones who is about the same price, keep Goodes for two and hopefully trade out a back rookie (Terlich in two weeks) and bring in my boy Jesse.

Got burnt by Stanton last year so I'm a bit gun shy.
His first half of last season he averaged 127 and his second half averaged 86, where as Watson averaged 116 in his first half and 109 in his second.

This is irrelevant. I have had Stants from season start, lowest score 109 so far. Last season even the start to the season was inconsistent, going 120, 90, 190 (or whatever the real numbers are). Fair enough jump on Jobe, but don't underestimate Stants. Easily my best pick to begin the year.

Why trade Viney out rather than Goodes?
Goodes has higher SP. I'd rather hang on to him for the price increase later rather than waste a trade to get him back in. Not sure I see much more money in Viney this season to be honest.

Not sure if serious about Viney?
I just think he'll be one of those guys who isn't played as much as people expect him to be. He's a great player but he's not as ready-made as somebody like Wines and after countless **** ups with developing youngsters by throwing them into AFL when they're not completely ready, I think the MFC will be a bit more cautious. I'm expecting Goodes to make a lot more money than Viney this season. In two weeks I'll hopefully be spending my time upgrading rookies, not sideways trading because Goodes is killing it.

Goodes two weeks is the exact scenario I didnt want.

1 week = easy keep
3 weeks = easy trade to Laird

Probably going to keep, hopefully Pittard and Stevenson both get games in future though, and Docherty doesnt wear the bloody green vest.

Also, random thought, contemplating going Westhoff all the way down to Gawn (Sinclair into forward line) leaving Gawn as my R3 for now with Cox and Sinclair able to swing in later if required, and then going random back rookie to Birchall.

Too hard, going to wait till Thursday.

No one got any love for Heath Scotland as a trade for Bryce Gibbs? Just take a look at the draw that Carlton have.

I think I might hold Goodes and make some cash out of either Dwyer or Blicavs depending on who the Friday night sub is and the teams etc.

For me though Gibbs has to go with that high breakeven and I now see him as an easy upgrade target in the backline, it is just whether I get Hamish Hartlett on Heath Scotland in for him

At this stage given my backline issues i am thinking:

Goodes ---> Laird
Dangerfield ---> Watson
Bank $202k

This is all relying on Hanley, Pittard, Stevenson all playing though....

lol what backline issues. gibbs is fine, it was on the news. :D

On a more serious note, Stevenson was terrible but will play, they've run out of troops. Trengove out for a month with a broken toe. Pittard more of a concern, rated "less than 40% chance" by the club. That's AFL talk for won't play. Heath hobbled around with a knee injury for the last qtr but hopefully fine. Hanley getting mixed reports, some saying 50/50 others saying fine.

Yet still missing this week.....

Right so lets assume Pittard, Stevenson and Hanley are named (touch wood).

Thinking i might do this now...
Dangerfield -----> Hartlett (move Goodes Mid)
Libba -----> Watson
Bank $1k.

Pretty much 2 upgrades in my mind and i fix two problem areas in the process (Danger and a possible 0 in the backline).

I don't know how much I trust these "mild hamstring strains". I would be happy to sit Gibbs on the bench if I knew it was only one week but who knows.

I really wanted to go:

Westhoff -> SJ
Monfries -> Knights

but now I'm looking at one of the following:

Westhoff -> Knights
Goodes -> Scotland

or

Westhoff -> SJ
Gibbs -> Scotland

Knights fits into my mid range money making forward strategy and Monfries has topped out so wanted to get rid of him. It's now looking like he might have to stay.

If Gibbs was only out for one week then I would go with Knights and Scotland. If he is out for two or more then SJ and Scotland is the way to go. Decisions decision..
