teh_nub is spot on

you could maybe add mcleod to his list as well (not sure if he's a bit more expensive)
i definitely wouldn't opt for any of the players you listed however

what do people think of

a) morton to kornes

and

b) cotchin to a cash cow - ibbotson, armitage etc.

i'm 99% sure i'm gonna do the first - the second i'm not so sure of ...

would not trade cotchin...about to work his into the team...will be a good cash cow

IMO only if really desperate

^^

that's the thing though; i feel like cotchin is further away from the team than people estimate.

i have a long term goal of bringing in (besides kornes) one more premium in defence, in midfield and in the forwardline.

to do that, i have to have my rookies playing, and i'm just not convinced at this stage that cotchin is any closer than a month away from playing his first game.

thoughts?

well....i guess it is up to terry...and u never know what he is going to do:p

Well, after hearing of Chad Cornes' injury + suspension,I'm leaning towards trading him.

I've had Priddis on the pine ever since he injured himself, along with West and Tuck(Hawks) over the past few weeks. With Cornes now out for a further month,is it time to get rid of him?

I know he's a great ball winner, but I can get hold of Joel Corey(best in the game) for a better price.

Thoughts?

Anyone who drops The Chad is nuts... He is also known for his healing powers, quick recovery. 2 matches is all he'll miss.
WTF? Who is he, Wolverine?

My thoughts on some of the suggested trades of last few pages.

Cornes - if you've got him, keep him. No question. If you don't wait until he's back and the 65 rotates through his scores.
Chapman - not yet. At least 1, probably 2 weeks before bottoming out. When he hits a BE of 80-85, get him.
Fevola - trade now. Relies too much on a big bag to get a score (ditto Franklin while I'm on the subject). Too much going cheap in the forward line to keep the poster boy for unreliability.
Ibbotson - already had a big jump in $, probably 30% of his total in a week. If you don't have him, too late. Upside is should get a game, particularly in short term with Hayden/Grover out.
S.Johnson - now. Get him now.
King - too late, about 4 weeks too late. Will be interesting to see if he slides if Bowden comes back in and plays his old role (mind you, big "if" that Bowden will return any time soon...)
Thornton - dump (ditto for Osborne). Too much early press, not enough proven history to back it up.
Gamble - 1 or 2 weeks then trade (ie J.Brown, Chapman, etc).
Hill - Will hover around current price (+/- 10K) for next 2-3 weeks, dump as soon as you are looking to upgrade.
Wellingham - wait until played 2 rounds, AND is guaranteed games. Not sure he is in Collingwood lineup.
Browne - see above, replace Collingwood with Carlton.
Valenti - see above, replace Collingwood with Melbourne and remember he's STILL ROOKIE LISTED. He's not even on the squad yet. Geez.
Cotchin - see above, replace Collingwood with Richmond.
Houli - only trade now if you are cash poor and need him out before your target jumps (Kornes, Swan). Good for at least one more game with a 90 in the score. Unsure about vs Swans, seems to be a lot of optimism around it, but there are very few players who score well against them.
Armitage - good get this week, but remember he costs you $133K straight up; $50K more than a standard rookie. If you're picking he'll average out at $220K, make sure you're OK with a $70K profit over a $120K one.
Dale Thomas - trade. Much better value in big names out there.
B.Johnson - must get, but not this week.
J.Brown - see above.
Griffen - you picked him at the start of the season for a reason. If it was to make $, and you thnk you've done that, trade him, otherwise hold. Caveat being that if you had him identified for a bigname target (Kornes, Swan), then do it.
Masten - too late.
Eliis - he's servicable in the back, which is more than most ofhte big names can say. If he's your weakest link, trade him. Reckon he's within his range, probablt another $15K in him over the next half dozen rounds.

Don't trade either 1 of Cornes or Priddis as the latter will be back after 1 more game and the chad will only miss 2 games

ok i can honestly say i need some opinions on what to do this week

heres the side
awesome.jpg

im thinkn of getin either of the following, ellis an griffen as their BE are high an they will not reach em

just not sure on who to go for i have 34,000 in the bank

if i get rid of griffen i need priddis to play so i can get a rookie to upgrade ellis

Yeah, I guess I could buy into the theory that at 142K, Ibbo is ~Armitage at 133K, but you have to be objective about it.

If the purpose of trading in is to make $, then you get better returns from a rookie starting at 83.5K than 142K.

If the purpose of trading him in is to make points, and you want 70 ppg, then look elsewhere. Ibbo will be great on the bench to make some $, but not on the field. Can't see him doing better than a underperforming mid-pricer. Although I'd love to proved wrong. Been waiting for him to crack the 22 for a while now.

Now I've rationalised it, it's worth mentioning I'm considering a trade this week to get Armitage/Ibbotson to allow me to upgrade Houli>Kornes. But I doubt I will. Have spare 100K on pine in rucks I could use and still do Houli>Kornes. And I don't have faith in Armitage playing enough games, plus Ibbo's train has left Freo station.

IMO, leave it. Team is fine.

Buuuut, if you've got trade fever:
Fevola>Chad Jones
Griffen> Kornes

Put Jones on pine and play Dew. Trade Dew/Rioli for BJ in upcoming weeks.

Backline is currently...

C.Cornes
Birchall
Mattner
Symes
Waters
Gram
Pfeiffer
-----------
Wonemarri
Proud

Do people think Proud to Ibbotson is a waste of a trade? With Cornes obviously out....Symes in doubt and Pfeiffer struggling a tad....i think Proud is wasting away on my bench at the moment...advice?

Im thinking the same.
Proud to ibbotson if bowden plays, if Bowden doesnt then Bowden to Ibbotson.
Then look at upgrading hill to a premium or Proud to a premium.

alright have a couple of options this week

Looking to downgrade hill to Valenti then either dyson or houli up to a premium. However if i upgrade dyson i only have around 420k to spend whereas if i upgrade houli i will have 450k to spend.

Or Gamble up to Chappy

Or Daisy Thomas up to Franklin. -- Dont really want to do this one yet cause franklin will drop and hopefully thomas can improve his form a little bit.

I think ill wait cause next week hopefully dyson has a good game so i can dish him off.

The only trade i am thinking of making would be Gamble to chappy

Looking for a cheap foward a rookie to sit on the bench but would like a playing one .My foward line is fine looking to free some cash up.Any names Thank guys:thumbsu:

Going to do either of the following.

A.Edwards >>>>Valenti (Edwards was originally starting 22 but Rioli started scoring more so he is now starting, and I still have Tippett on bench if Valenti doesn't come up this week.)

And then with that money I gain, either Houli>>>>Kornes or Petterd>>>>McLeod

Same situation as me. If you wanted to write off your 9th forward line position and take a 72K player then take Valenti. He's your best bet at bottom price but he most likely won't play. In saying that though I can't find anyone at the 83K mark who will play so writing off your 9th forward might not be as bad as it sounds.

At the 83K mark you have Edwards, Weetra, Jacky and Ross who have all played 2 or 1 games. I'd say maybe Edwards is the best of the lot there as he showed a bit pre-season and Carlton are pretty injury plagued at the moment.

Others to look for are:

Sellar: Although it sounds like his form in the SANFL has been shitehouse.
Neagle: 91K player who looks alright. Might be injured ..not sure.
J.Morton: Will struggle to get a gig at the Hawks but they might squeeze him in for the sake of blooding a player later in the season if they are home and hosed.
Veszpremi: Top draft pick. I have to assume he's injured but could come in to contention later.
Guy O'keefe: Ripping it down at Williamstown. Might be behind Callan Ward to get a game for the Dogs but sounds like a player and might get a game later in the season.

That's a different way of looking at it. I like the idea, but IMO positions should only be 'written off' later in the year.

In a way it would lessen the blow if he was to stay at 72k.
