Don't mind the changes. Henry had to come in & Bianco had a pretty good game last week. I had a look at the replay & I thought that Tyler did some good pressure acts - he just needs to get a few more disposals!
How many years are we going to be saying he needs to get more disposals before he actually gets them!!!

I like it. I just wish WHE would fire up and look a little more interested. I know he is laconic in style and nature but when he is having a quiet day his body language and lack of intensity is demoralizing.

He’s the ultimate fly under the radar player. Does stuff all most weeks and is on a decent contract as he signed his last one in 2019 after a good 2018…
With the named team, he's a necessity. We're playing the very bare minimum of talls and he's the only bloke who could play tall if one at either end gets injured.

Will Ghosting Elliot has never played tall in defence. And is as hard to move as a brûlée

The coaches obviously value his talents… but his performances only reach those heights once every 4-5 weeks

And he’d be on good coin considering his last contract was signed in that glorious salary cap management year of 2019

Hmm as much as I want Madgen out of the side I thought this was one he should of played.

Can anyone tell me who gets Lynch, Riewoldt, Balta, and then dusty when he rotates down there (first game back he would probably rotate forward a bit more than usual)
Our defence does not exist anymore. So we should focus on high scoring and put the pressure on their defence. We have no matchups for all those players.

#1 recruiting priority is now a key defender to take the gorillas and also one that can take on a man.

Maynard to Riewoldt, Moore to Lynch, Howe to Balta. Howe might drop back to cover Martin if/when he moves forward, because Balta seems to mostly operate further upfield

You know we only concede 3 more points per game this season than last season, right?

Agree… persevere with him til now only to drop him and not have another 190cm 90kg player in to replace him

Seems odd

Hopefully it’s a line in the sand moment. No point dropping him and he predictably play well at VFL level over the next month… to then bring him in again and eventually resign him over the summer

He's played tall in defence for short periods. Once against WCE a couple of years ago when Moore was injured. Played on Allen and did well. And recently he played there when Moore went forward against Brissy.

But more to the point, who else in the team could you ask to do it?

Nah, I think I’m okay. What’s the point of playing a 28 year old half forward who averages .5 goals & 1.5 tackle a game?

Reef & Poulter could produce similar numbers.

I believe we should only play 2 types of players.
1) The ones who will be at our next premiership tilt.
2) The ones who have enough experience, leadership and who’s skills we dearly need with no direct replacement (ie Pendles & Howe).

The level of output produced by WHE can be replicated by young members of our list. It’s not rocket science to not play him.
That’s a pretty narrow view.

It’s sure is - Epstein Barr virus
It's actually really common. Most catch it when young but don't get sick. If you don't catch it until you're a late teen or adult is when you are at risk of it getting bad.

I don't think you'd rest a player for a week due to fear of glandular fever.

Lynch Moore
Balta Howe
Riewoldt Maynard - Bruzzy did well on him last time
Dusty Quaynor

The issue would be if they wanted to throw Soldo forward as well. But I don't think that suits their game style.

Theres a kid on our list who's dad was as good a defender as anyone I've ever seen and he is 5cm taller than dad....

Tyler Brown?

Quaynor would be an interesting one. He's quicker than Martin, so wouldn't get burnt on the lead - but he is also smaller. However, Q is bloody stocky.

Agree - Late teens and early adulthood is definitely the most common demographic.

Gonna rain tomorrow and be another wet and miserable day on Saturday. Hopefully that lessens the impact of Richmond's tall forwards, as it won't be ideal conditions for marking.

We always need good players playing. Having some sort of nihilistic view of “drop em if they are not a chance for the next flag” is silly. A guy like WHE is every chance of playing 200 games. You need to rethink your idea on output.

Don’t you think that if the coaches believed any of that to be so then they’d make the change?

They are playing Balta in defense again.

I'm not sure I see what Bianco brings. I think he has footy smarts but I can only see him being played up forward and he lacks pace, size and is not a crumber.
He'll play high half forward I think Improvement on Callum offensively, hopefully his work rate is up as it is a loss defensively.

I find it difficult to understand the vitriol towards WHE tbh. He averages 15 disposals playing on a forward flank, which is actually above average by position. No, he’s not kicking the goals he used to when he was being played out of the goal square in 2018, but he’s playing a role statistically to about the average level of his place on the field. I’d like to see him kick more goals, but I don’t think he’s been particularly bad this year, he just hasn’t been a standout at all.
