I find it difficult to understand the vitriol towards WHE tbh. He averages 15 disposals playing on a forward flank, which is actually above average by position. No, he’s not kicking the goals he used to when he was being played out of the goal square in 2018, but he’s playing a role statistically to about the average level of his place on the field. I’d like to see him kick more goals, but I don’t think he’s been particularly bad this year, he just hasn’t been a standout at all.

Reckon he has improved every game this year. He has plenty more games to play for us.

Agreed. Not everyone in the starting 22 can be stars. The salary cap won't allow it.

It’s a funny feeling knowing that things didn’t fall our way from a selection POV, but at the same time they kinda have. I was resolved to Madgen playing every match in 2022 because no doubt Moore or Howe (perhaps both) will be out by the time Dean is back. Yet here we are with Murphy now available for selection it’s a good time to be a Collingwood supporter!

Edit: saw your post from an hr ago and it’s just a hunch, but I reckon Maynard to Reiwoldt with Moore asked to actually defend a man this week in Lynch. Moore’s become way to reliant on Madgen as a safety blanket and it was killing us not to mention asking too much of Madgen.
It's about time this that Moore is given the responsibility of curbing an opponent rather than playing a loose, intercept role. He is not having a good year, and needs to show the club and supporters that he is worth the money that he has just gained through a lucrative contract. Hopefully he gets the job on Lynch and is directly held responsible for the Richmond man's output on Saturday. Both he and Grundy have been touted as the main candidates for future captaincy and neither player is exhibiting the kind of qualities expected of a captain. He needs to lift.

Careful.....Jack loves it when its wet, and their smalls won't mind it either.
Yes. But everyone has been sweating on how we're going to cover their talls. Hopefully Jack's days of dominating in the wet are behind him.

They could certainly produce similar lowly numbers in the areas you highlighted. Hoskin-Elliott's marking is important for us as wing/flank type. His days are numbered, but his performance hasn't been that poor.

I want him dropped at some stage this season, but there's no rush.

He averages 4.7 marks per game. Poulter averages 4.8 per game in the VFL.

That’s a pretty narrow view.

Is it wrong? When you consider the state of our club?
We always need good players playing. Having some sort of nihilistic view of “drop em if they are not a chance for the next flag” is silly. A guy like WHE is every chance of playing 200 games. You need to rethink your idea on output.

Mate, Josh Kennedy for the Swans has been the sub numerous times this year. Let’s try and get out of this mindset and let’s actually move the club forward.
Don’t you think that if the coaches believed any of that to be so then they’d make the change?

Nope, these are the same coaches that bring in a Brown Brother each week.

Yep, it’s wrong.

He’ll just continue to play his high half-forward role. We can’t carry a bloke in case there’s an injury.
If we had to carry him I'd agree. But we don't have anyone likely to offer more in his main role and his versatility is an added bonus.

Could not agree more. Just because he has re-signed does not mean that we cannot trade him at the end of the year. A line has gone through his name as future captain. And GreatGrundy, Howe has been shocking as well. It is embarrassing to watch him try to go 1 on 1.

Please define average

Player benchmarking : 60.
67% is below average.

His actual stats:
14 disposals, 5 marks, 1.5 tackles, .5 goals per game.

He’s in the same vein as JT from last year.

Because he's better than the next man up?

He’s not. The other players have shown to play better when given opportunity. Poulter averaged 15 disposals and 5 marks last year as a first year player.
