The only thing that’s a certainty in this game is Tippawoody will do a few run of the mill things, like a handball to a team mate, and the commentators will bang on about how good he is and miss five or six passages of play. And if Bruce happens to be commentating he’ll pose the question ‘he’s brilliant, isn’t he?’ to any of his fellow commentators.

I haven't travelled down the M1 during peak hour for a few years, anyone know what the traffic will be like if we leave Brisbane around 6.15pm?

It's actually pretty good now since they finished the Gateway merge upgrade earlier this year. The worst patch always seemed to be around there, and while it can still be a bit heavier in its peak it's nothing like what it was. Shouldn't be too much of a delay at all if you're leaving after 6.

Was looking forward so much to tonights game until I read your post. BT or Bruce commentating an Essendon game will be like nails on a blackboard. One positive is at least 'THE PACKAGE' isn't playing tonight.

So do all fox broadcasts use the Chanel 7 commentary for the prime time games or is it just on Kayo?

They tore us apart in the first quarter last year with electric ball movement. Like every week, we will have to play well to our strengths to win.

I'm hoping the new selections all play well as a deep squad wins premierships.

If it is close wouldn't it be marvelous if Mitch kicked the winner?

If you genuinely think the time of day makes a difference then you truly got no idea.

Big games happen no matter the time slot and over the last season and a half this group has stepped up immensely. We've beaten Port and GWS who were flag fancies at the start of the year. Last year we beat West Coast coming off a premiership win and have numerous big games against sides we hadn't beaten for years including a lot of away wins which shows the improvement in the side.
From memory, l cannot remember the last time we won a Thursday or Friday night game. Those timeslots are usually the most anticipatedof the week, have a huge crowd and national audience. We do tend to blow them.

BT I can handle , but Bruce he's cringe worthy ," do you think"!

I remembered last night at 6 PM to check google maps travel time.
So, 6 PM from Mitchelton to Metricon Stadium was 75 minutes non toll roads
Was 62 minutes via a toll road

Mitchie, I spent a good portion of my early childhood ie. late 60s early 70s nearby(Keperra), loved roaming the streets and bush land around there.

What is it about this guy?? Couldn't stand him. I didn't want him anywhere near my club, I wanted to scream at everyone connected to the club "what is the matter with you, are you mad?"

Hmm, so it's like this, he got here and proceeded to slowly worm his way right into my heart. Hmm, I hate being wrong!

Right now after reading and looking at the tributes for him again and again, I'm an emotional wreck. I've teared up every time!

You are something very special Mitch Robinson. You have done your yourself, family and our club proud.

Go out there and kick that winning goal Mitch, and I swear there will be a flood of happy tears rush over you from all the love being directed at you from far and wide.

I will never post again if we win tonight. That's how much confidence I have in us in a primetime game. Had this been on a Saturday afternoon, we would have won. But we never have been able to play a huge game.
Ok.

I don't like either of them.
Bruce has had a great career in calling sport but is past it now.
I actually hate his "but we know that". Unfortunately it is catching on via the boundary riders that get stuck for words
BT can call the game okay in patches but that is more rare than normal.

I don't know how to explain it, but it's true.

Admittedly we don't get many of them. Collingwood early last year and the two finals, then Geelong earlier this year. Only truly got close once.

If you makes you feel better, with a half filled Metricon stadium, it won't feel like a prime time game.

That video for Mitchy Robinson confirms what we all knew. Loved by everyone and the kind of heart and soul player on and off the ground every club needs. Carltons mistake was very much our gain.

Go well tonight Robbo.

Just on that Mitch took a massive swipe at Malthouse today.

The Lions have lost 365 games experience to Essendon's 6 from the previous weeks teams
Although not ideal the named teams still have the Lions with more experience than Essendon. Figures below courtesy of Footywire

So we won't have any excuse on that front.
Same with injuries. Essendon have more good players out than the Lions
If we put in 4 solid quarters we should grind out a win.
We need to win 2 of the next 4 games so winning tonight is important going into this next block of condensed games.

I liked what Fagan said to Ballenden when announcing his debut game "you just need to play your role no more or no less"
Lions by 15+ points
Time for a coffee before getting ready for a trip to Metricon

Last time we won on a Friday was against St Kilda in 2014... in New Zealand. For Thursday, it's vs Carlton round 2 2010. For Fridays in Australia, it's vs Collingwood 2008.

Long time between weeknight drinks.

Let’s just ignore the fact that we have had 1 game on a Thursday or Friday since 2015 for 1 loss. Not sure I’d call that a trend to rely on
