It would be amazing to win a close one for once.
3 defeat this year by under 5pts (Hawks, Geelong & WCE)
Yep, you could so easily be 6-2 and cruising towards a finals berth.

Luck surely will be on your side the next time you're in a close game.

Carl v Bris - May not be the highest quality game, but it should be close. Brisbane coming off their upset win over Essendon, and I suspect Carlton will want to make amends for their dismal performance in the NAB Cup final.
Yes, a loss in the NAB Cup would be right under any teams skin!

Very optimistic on the Hawks v GC crowd figure there.

Actually very optimistic on all the crowds, except, perhaps, the Collingwood game.

It's not luck. It's because frontrunner's like Petrie don't know how to close out a game.

Don't kid yourself mate. This is the same rhetoric Carlton spewed for years after Fevola left and everyone is dull saying how they lack a big target up forward.

Well we still have Jenkins who is a big target and now a permanent forward.
Hes nowhere near the quality of Walker but he's sure better than the options Carlton have been through since Fevola. That is of course not including Waite who is quality but couldnt get on the park for a long while.

Everyone that tipped Sydney, brace yourselves. I am compiling your posts and am preparing a massive response which should change all of your minds. Nothing makes me madder than strangers on the internet tipping against my side, I WILL take you on.

I think tonights outcome we'll see some scenes a bit similar to this

For the cause brother!

natural improvement of the team. dont pretend like Waite isnt currently the most important player for carlton and dont say that if they had Kennedy or a non nutcase fev the scoring spread would be worse and thus carlton would be a worse team.
Whilst having a dominant big foward is good , at times it can cost you games. Take Cloke for example ? If he has a poor Game and or Misses scoring chances then the Pies are very vulnerable to almost any decent side in the comp . It's like having all your Eggs in the one Basket .

this is a very narrow minded point if view (imo obv) my friend. a team doesnt have to always kick it to the big guy they have other choices its just that he would normally be their best target and small crumbers, particularly those of the calibre of betts and garlett (2 best small fwds in the league), would feed off this. we've seen how good Garlett has been this season and betts last year however we did see how exposed they were vs st kilda as they could only kick long to hampson who has been very poor.

re: missing chances. any player missing chances is hurting the team and this criticism cannot be confined to big forwards as any can be guilty of perpetrating this act of poor skill

My comment about getting kicked out of the league if we lose had nothing to do with the opposition. If we lose this, we go to 3-6 and it's season over, and a waste of the talent on our list.

I do like the increased interest in the game though from neutrals that has now been generated as a result of the Crow offended.

So if North gets kicked out of the competition for being 3-6, what happens to Melbourne?
