Carlton's also a shitload stronger through the midfield than us so we might not be able to dictate the game like we did against the cats.

Not sure about that. Carlton are on average winning 0.3 less clearances than their opponent this year, we are 1.1 less on average. They lost the midfield battle to the pies without JDG last week.

We’re #1 this year for restricting scores from stoppage, they’re #1 for scoring from stoppage. Be a really interesting battle.

Carlton are much more vulnerable defensively than Geelong, if we kick straight we should be ok provided our team defence remains strong.

Will be a similar style to last week for us IMO. We'll try to minimize turnovers again.

We've got the Blues covered in the midfield for scores from stoppage because we're more defensive (we're number 1 for score from stoppage differential, Blues are 13th), we're also far better at scores from defensive half, but if they keep the ball moving quickly and messily then we're vulnerable because our forward pressure and ground ball game is where they can get us IMO.

On paper they are well ahead of the cats and it's more than just clearance, it's also winning contested footy between the arcs which is where most of our games are played atm.

I'm actually not too worried about them scoring from stoppage, more so that it'll be an ugly Carlton front half game and we don't fully pull the trigger on attacking from the back half.

I mean on paper they were well ahead of the pies too and got killed 🤷

Do agree we need to attack from the back half though, they’re vulnerable to being opened up like that and we’ve got the runners in the team now to do so.

Blues are 9th for clearance differential. Dees are 11th. Telling given the different game styles. We don't play a stoppage game anymore - We're 11th for stoppages per game, Carlton are 4th.

Dees are 4th for score from defensive half differential, 6th for average score from defensive half.

Especially with them playing 3 key talls forward rebounding should be fairly easy to do.

Carlton win tonight. They're due. The umps in their back pocket and us ridiculously coming off a 5 day break for this one. All set up for a Blues win. Sam Walsh bog. Our mids are just going tbh..

It's not just the umpiring - it's the James Frawley FA compensation, it's the refusal to acknowledge our 2021 premiership before every game, it's the AFLW allowing Carlton to trade for Elise O'Dea. :madv1: :madv1: :madv1:

Not sure that excuse stacks up. Carlton has had consecutive six-day breaks, we're coming off a five-day and 10-day break.

Yeah I'd take our 5 day and 10 day compared to their 2 x 6 days

Walsh is the one. Can do so much damage motoring away from stoppage. I know we don't tag but I'd love someone to put a lot of physical time into him at stoppage just to zap him a bit.

Viney hasn't been firing. I'd tell him to just sit on Walsh all night and make it as tough as possible for him to get an inch.

Flip of a coin game. I think we hold on as they still have a few out of their best 22 and Jack Martin is a fraud.

I read this as “our minds are just going tbh…” and it seemed to make perfect sense

Apologies, saw this in the BOM app and assumed those little dots coming from the grey clouds were rain

Pre-emptively blaming the umpires isn't it. Let's not stoop to that level and become another Tigers board.
