The most culpable in the whole affair. He is a trained medical professional and was responsible for allowing this to continue at the club. He may have been a great servant for the club, but now should leave through gross negligence over this.

Impossible to deny he's both long in the tooth and that any potential retirement ties in with the Supplements scandal.

One individual who has carried himself quietly, with dignity and a modicum of self-respect & sensitivity throughout this debacle. Has earned the right to exit this scandal quietly should he wish to. Wouldn't surprise me if he's been pushed throughout the 'peace talks' that have gone on over the past couple of days though.

Lets not glorify him or downplay his part in the whole Essendon supplements program. At Essendon he was and continues to be the head of all medical practices at the club. If he had doubts as his letter shows, he should have done more about that simply write a letter and then sit back. His position was to ensure that all medical practices at the club were of the highest order and clearly they were not.

Appreciate that this has tarnished his reputation, but his inaction and turning a blind eye, to what he clearly knew was wrong, did that. He should have been the first to resign not hanging on with all of the other deniers at the club. A shameful lack of moral values and non acceptance of responsibility. It will be interesting to see what ramifications there may be for his medical licence etc from this.

Along with Evans he is part of the collateral damage of this saga - tried to do the right thing by the club but was over ridden by others

Shame that such a loyal servant of the club ends his association like this

I really can't understand the love for this guy. In my eyes he is just as guilty as the rest. The charges say he was in a room with players being given IV's that he hadn't authorised, yet did nothing. Any person that was as entrenched in this saga is as guilty as the next to me.

Correct. They're all equally guilty. Fancy tabling a letter like that and then sit by and do nothing else about it. At the very least he should've reported this externally of the club. If he was fair dinkum! But he is just another loyal cult follower who compromised his professional integrity for his cheating scum club. Pathetic really

Not a bad GP though. I used his services a few times in years past. Shame he has been so compromised.

And the bucketloads of money he was paid over the years by Essendon. Also the fame associated with it made his own practice very busy.

The question to why Reid did not act after a certain point (after the letter had no effect) is something I don't think we will ever know.

I can only guess against his better judgement he allowed Hird to get away with it hoping the bullshit Hird must have told him was true. I'm guessing it was Hird who was the Essendon official that told Reid that Dank had the ok from ASADA on AOD. And I'll bet Lance Uppercut's left testicle the players were told not to say anything to Reid after a point. If that is true, I would be amazed if there is any hugs between those Hird and Reid nowadays.

Reid needs to take his kick up the arse, but I feel sorry for him.

Whether the players were told to sideline Reid or not, the charges suggest he was involved and present when drugs were given to players outside the agreed protocol. And his involvement would have been vital in getting traction for the program, given the trust people had in him and what players knew about checking with their club doctor.

If this happens, isn't it more of the "deal that never was" that he was reported to have rejected?

Definitely not a rumour. You only had to look at him. He was almost in tears and he completely ignored Hird as he walked past pregame.

Another bus has just pulled in to tullamarine, and the #standbyhirdmorons are still gushing over his every word.

Hey! No one told me that you could bet other poster's left testicle. And here I was risking my own all these years. What an idiot.
