Not yet, I also ordered a hoodie which I’m yet to see.Has anyone received their race bib for Melbourne yet?
ran the DeCastella 15k this morning, always a killer race with all the hills. Ran for the first time in Endorphin Pro 2's. I've basically run exclusivley in Brooks glycerine for the best part of a decade; some recent talk on this thread and another forum had me thinking its time to try something new for a race. they were awesome! was a bit skeptical after a couple of training runs but they performed real well; can't wait to try them on a longer distance race. In fact straight after I went online and bought a pair of the 4's to use for my two upcoming OS marathons.
had a blow up on the weekend, was meant to do 28k with 5 x 3k at goal mara pace with 1k recovery in between... absolutely cooked after my last rep, had to stop a few times, walk and compose myself and ended up shuffling back to my car and pulling up at 27k because i felt absolutely horrid.
Not ideal, but also just one of those things potentially given it was a bit warmer, i am coming off being sick 10 days ago etc etc... trying not to dwell on it and just be more prepared hydration and fuel wise in case that caused issues as well.
Race day coming quickly and otherwise things have gone well!
Cheers mate, the good news is I've ran 3 times since and have been fine.. Today was 10k with 6k in the middle at 15-20seconds quicker than goal pace and got through it well tbh, so an easy 20k this weekend then have a really meaty 4 week block and then it's bloody taper time already!Sounds rough. But you will be better for it. We all have those days.
At least it didn’t happen on race day. No doubt due to the warmer weather and recent illness. Make sure you rest up and get back out there when you’re ready.
has been absolutely ridiculous hasn't it, i had an easy 7k Monday that I just didn't see the point in going out in a hurricane so bailed onthis f*cking wind

have a 30k longy tomorrow to do so i can't just skip that one, hopefully the stars align and it is ok
I've got 30, 32, 36 the next 3 weekends.. The real meat of my block so I'm just prepared that I am going to have to grind it out and just get the work doneme too, 31k this weekend, last real long run before Berlin in 3 weeks' time. tomorrow morning actually looks to be perfect conditions so that's a plus. the last few weeks before a marathon are always a bit full on, it's not a period that i enjoy. it's all a bit of a mental head**** and ive always found it very challenging to really nail it. doesn't help this time that the Cats just went through to a Prelim so will have that the weekend before (and then if we did win have to miss a Geel GF for the first time in my life!)

can anyone recommend me a lightweight daily jogger?
I’ve been using the Asics Novablast 3 but you can’t get them anymore and the 4’s have a different midsole.
as a side note, shoe prices are getting ridiculous. charging $300, give or take, for a jogging shoe is becoming the norm.
I’ve still got an old pair of Endorphin Speed 3’s with less than 30k’s on them that probably fits into the same bracket. I’m after a little more shoe for daily miles.New Balance Rebel v4? Not sure if it quite fits the bill but it's sort of in the lightweight daily trainer / uptempo shoe space.

I’ll probably just end up getting the Novablasts. I doubt I’ll even notice the slightly firmer foam or added weight but I freakin loved the last version and I’m pissed they changed it.
This is quite depressing for the running shoe lover as well, i have had to reign in the fun dramatically... only getting anything lately if on sale and i can double dip via Running Warehouse with a discount codeas a side note, shoe prices are getting ridiculous. charging $300, give or take, for a jogging shoe is becoming the norm.
How are all the Mara preps going?
I have 32k tomorrow, 36 next week which i think has 5 x 4k at goal pace in there.. then i have hit the peak and it is winding back for the last 3 week prior to race day.
Touching Wood, Crossing everything.. but seems to be tracking in the right direction, just gotta get through the next 8 days really and then the countdown is really on
umm so I am doing my 2nd Mara, 2 years ago I went 3:57:somethingNot bad. I’ve got 32km planned for Sunday.
All being well, the plan is to do 34km next weekend, followed by 36km the weekend after, and then taper.
What’s your target? I’m hoping for 3:59:59, but it’s going to be touch and go. My training times suggest I’m more in the 4:05 bracket.
Edit - race bib just arrived. It’s starting to feel real now!

Training at the moment I think is geared towards 3:30... my "goal pace" efforts are 4:55-5:00ks, and the sharper pick up stuff during the week a bit quicker, yesterday I did 12k with the middle 8k @4:40-4:45s and I feel like the efforts are starting to feel more comfortable, and holding the goal pace last weekend for 10k in a 30k run actually didn't feel like i was pushing more than jogging.. So hoepfully that means all pointing to what I am aiming for.
Have a different fella setting my plan this time round, i absolutely have ran more and feel i have done more targetted stuff... last time round was find but it was all HR based stuff and just very different. I am on track already this month for my biggest ever month, and the 2 prior have been 2 of my top 3 months ever so volume wise i am absolutely going to be better for it... as long as i am not over cooked!
but just gotta trust what i am doing i think and its why i have someone setting my plan and coaching me
I have to admit it hadn't really sunk in or been too much on my mind until I saw people all over FB getting their bibs, and plenty getting the wrong ones!
