There’s no way this gets up. I went through the interlocutory appeal again and the justices reasoning set out the parameters of the case under common law.

It’s a Hail Mary

Wasn't the jury told to disregard the stuff in closing that wasn't put to GL on the stand anyway by Croucher?

The cheek of requesting that he be released prior to the hearing is galling.

What is it that notwithstanding murder, removing the bodies, making it look like a robbery, burning and disposing of C & R's remains in a remote location, over a sustained period of time, makes them believe that he is at all innocent of cruel and calculated behavior (?).

The approbation and condemnation by the public is most thoroughly deserved.

The jury has spoken and did their job within the confines of the court’s directions.

The verdict has to stand. The appeals court don’t have to take it up either. They can say no.

How quickly can an appeal be quashed?

Fastest way is they don’t take it up no idea how long that’ll take but doubt that decision would be made this year

Probably looking at around 8-12 months if they take it up. The only thing that gives hope is the interlocutory appeal was pretty quick.

TBH having followed this case it has so many unique issues who knows what’s going to happen

He's only lodged the appeal at this stage

There has to be another Court Case to determine whether he is granted leave to appeal.

If he isn't granted leave to appeal the matter stops there.

Yeah that’s what I was referring to, could have been more precise with my post

An amusing aside...keen followers of the Greg Lynn trial also possess keen taste in music!!
I saw 'The Church' at the Palais (Melbs) last night, and was curiously surprised to run into a kindred trial gallery patron at the concert...but to then run into another coming out made me crack up! Whats the chances of Venn diagram overlap of 'loves true crime' and 'Jangly, complex guitars and alt prog rock from 80s-90s heyday' , and still going strong today??🤣😂
I was "Tantalized" by the concept that "Life speeds up", whilst "Under the Milky Way"😉😎
Made my night, and smiled all the way home! Thanks fellow gallery goers!😍

And yet we’ve been repeatedly told Russell was the one with the temper.

Russell absolutely did have a temper. But that doesn't change anything about Lynn (ie not mutually exclusive).

You’ve missed the point. There were unsubstantiated rumours Russell had a temper. Maybe there’s truth to them, maybe there’s not.

The implication being that it was Russell’s temper that provoked Lynn and/or seal Russell and Carols fate.

And yet, we heard nothing about the actual perpetrator Lynn’s well documented temper.

Even now, people still victim blame the dead guy.

What do you base this on? Or are you just being a DH again

Don’t we all have a temper? I’m a very patient, passive person. But about once, maybe twice a year I lose my mind. If you judged me on those incidents you might say I have a temper.

Similarly my FIL had a shocking temper for years. But in the last 20 years has been very mellow.

Was that mentioned by a witness under oath in Court and subject to cross examination?

Hill's supposed and unproven temper had nothing to do with Lynn's conviction unless you're blaming the one victim whose death was proven at his hands

I did date a Croatian chick for a bit so saw it first hand.

Apart from that no.

You didn't say that she looked Serbian by any chance?

Haha no way. Does remind me of that frontline episode where Tiriel Mora sits in the audience and blames one of them for starting the war

Read this over the weekend, it's excellent. Brings a fair bit of information to the table that people who didn't follow the trial closely might have missed (including some stuff that wasn't permitted at trial) and is very easy to read.

The author uses some artistic freedom to add a bit of dramatic flair (they were the screenwriter for the Underbelly TV series) so keep that in mind. Most things are factual, and I don't think there's anything inherently false, but maybe a little bit of mayo.

Other than what is known publicly and from the trial is there anything in the book that stands out as particularly noteworthy?

Nope. Book basically describes him as a shit campaigner which is all true. That’s about it.
