Appeal docs lodged....lodged late.31 days vs 28 .Better be a good excuse,I love the way the law is bendable- for some.
What does the legislation say?

Under the statutes that control sentencing in Victoria, a week is 7 days, a month is a calender month and a year is a calender year (a bugger if your sentence of a year goes over February of a leap year)

October is a 31 day month

Can be a real pain in the arse to work out sentences if a magistrate gives non aggregated sentence composed of weeks, months and years and makes some or part of them concurrent

Seems to be some reporting in the HS about the police probing the death of Lisa Lynn
Damn it - Herald Sun - it's Paywalled ^

All I can read is:
*****************************************************************************************
Lisa Lynn died suddenly in 1999 at the Mt Macedon home where she had lived with her husband and their two young children.

The death of the high country killer's first wife, Lisa, is expected to be referred to the State Coroner in a bid for a fresh inquest.

Exclusive: As Greg Lynn sat drinking and reading a book in a Melbourne pub, his wife was dying. This is what he told investigators as he sat.........

Might get a trial subscription but I don’t think I can post it here

It's interesting in places such as the cops suggesting he was "over alibi'd " for his statement on the night of Lisa's death.Lots of detail on how he says he spent that night in several inner city pubs and restaurants.
At the end of the article came this little gem ( true or not one wonders ) !

"But at home, there was a darker pet name for him – Wolf Creek.

It was picked up on police bugs hidden in his Caroline Springs home."

Are we going to run with "Wolfie" from now on ?

Legislation aside, here under time limits expressed in days :
I guess Dan would always have an excuse, that's what he gets paid $$$ for......
The Guardian reporter must have asked the right questions;

"A spokesperson for the supreme court confirmed to Guardian Australia that Lynn filed an appeal against his conviction and sentence late on Monday. The spokesperson said Lynn had also applied for an extension of time application."

Should be allowed to summarise right?

Points of interest for me included:

• Quote during a phone call between Lisa and Greg, noted by a witness
"There'll be blood in the streets. Your blood will flow. I hate you Lisa. Your blood will flow in the street....f--ing bitch,"
Ah right.. totally normal things to say in the heat of the moment Greg you’re fine mate…

• Told her he would burn the house down. Charges were later withdrawn for this but he’s on record telling police
"I was also charged with making threats to kill Lisa,"
"This was over things that I admit that I said in the heat of the volatile situation but never intended to carry out."
Gee guess that’s ok then if you didn’t really mean it? Might be time to ease up though..

• Lisa sent the family nanny with their sons (at 1 & 3 years old) to stay with her parents in Tasmania during the separation as she was scared for their safety following his “escalating fury”
• Lisa noted in an affidavit that Greg had been removed from flight duties due to security concerns and questions about his mental stability. Pilots reportedly refused to fly with him, Lynn denies these claims.
• He recounts an incident to police
where he punished Lisa for drinking too much. These are actual quotes from Lynn himself if you can actually believe it
"What I did was go up to the bedroom while Lisa was still drunk and asked her if she wanted to play a little game,"
"She said yes, so I bound her hands and feet with masking tape and carried her outside into the backyard.
"I put her near the back steps and hosed her down with water from the garden hose. I then sat out there with her and she got extremely cold.
"I then untied her, took her inside, helped dry her off and put her to bed."
"I have told this (story) to a few of our friends and their reactions have been a bit negative," he said. "...they seemed to consider it a bit bizarre and cruel"
Ffs Greg 🤦🏻‍♀️

If that’s the version he’s telling to the police thinking he comes off as reasonable and measured, imagine what actually happened that night???

Good god.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets off because some appeals court judges want to put their thumb on the scale to demonstrate how smart they are

Oh and his alibi for the night she died. Also totally cool and normal.

• Greg claimed he spent the evening of October 25, 1999, alone, visiting multiple locations in Collingwood and Fitzroy

• Called his partner, Bronwyn, around 5:30 PM.

• Went to Irish Murphy’s pub, where he drank and read the paper.

• Had dinner at Dimples Video Café using a discount voucher and paid with a credit card (receipt provided).

• Returned to Irish Murphy’s for more drinks and read a book but left his credit card there.

• Visited the Albion Hotel (left quickly) and the Provincial Hotel, where he continued reading and drinking.

• After midnight, returned to Irish Murphy’s to retrieve his card but found it closed.

• Walked to an ANZ bank, withdrew $40 at 1:06 AM, and caught a taxi home.

• He provided receipts for his purchases and the ATM withdrawal to police.

• Remembered details about the taxi driver, “Moses,” from Arrow Taxi Company, who discussed an unused airline ticket and asked if Greg could help to arrange a refund (???) unfortunately Moses didn’t have a spare business card on him otherwise Greg would have helpfully provided it.

• He claimed he went straight to bed after being dropped off and didn’t leave home until retrieving his car the next morning.

Cops considered alibi overly detailed, raised Q’s about the precision of his timeline and the plausibility of events (e.g., keeping receipts but losing his credit card, and remembering the driver’s name). Also who reads the paper and a book in various pubs all night?

He’s shocked that their friends reacted negatively to him torturing his wife.

Bloke is detached from reality.

And yet we’ve been repeatedly told Russell was the one with the temper.

His attention to detail is astoundingly scary.

Even if he wins appeal for Clay's murder, surely he pays a price for the cover up?
