Scans have confirmed that Ryan Crowley has torn his pectoral muscle during a training session at Fremantle Oval.

The 2012 Doig Medallist will have an adjusted training program for six weeks, however he will not have to undergo surgery.

Senior coach Ross Lyon was confident the injury would not hinder the 28-year-old’s 2013 season.

“We expect Ryan to be able to maintain his fitness and be available for selection come round 1 of the season proper,” Lyon said.

At least it's not a serious injury in that he can still maintain fitness and doesn't need surgery. Although I would rather surgery now than a repeat of the injury and more surgery down the track.

He said on Twitter that he remains adamant he'll be in line for Round 1 selection. Let's just hope that there are no complications.

Yeah a pec's not the worst injury to cop at this point. With about two weeks off any way and no hampered running he should still be as fit as anyone i'd think

F**k. Come at a somewhat good time atleast, just before the xmas period.

If you are going to cop this type of injury, just before a two week Christmas break is the best time.
Ross Lyon doesn't seem to either overstate or understate player injuries , and he doesn't seem overly concerned.
What I do find interesting is the media reporting of the injury. In past situations this would have been headlined as " Freo star's season in jeopardy as injury curse continues to haunt them " .

Every team gets one or two injuries in the pre-season. It's just the way it is. If this is bad as it gets for us this year (i.e. no knees, feet) I will count us lucky.
He was running laps today at training. He looked to be in no discomfort at all. I don't think this injury will set him back in the slightest.

That's good to hear. Know a guy in basketball circles that did a pec in a bad way. He was out for about 8 weeks, maybe more (it was a while back), and was doing very little for the first few weeks.

If he's running now with no discomfort then I can't see him being unavailable for Rnd 1.
