The sacking of coach Brendan McCartney appears to have had no effect on Griffen’s move away from the kennel and his desire to link up with former teammate Callan Ward and coach Leon Cameron.
“The player to player connection is probably stronger than with the coach,” Giants coach Leon Cameron said.
“I coached Ryan for five years but he has a strong connection with Callan Ward. He’s also good friends with Dylan Addison and Sam Reid who played together for four or five years. I suspect he is struggling with the Melbourne life of AFL football which is 100 per cent in your face.

Gws fans.

Pretty obvious about picks 4 and 7 being floated around. And obviously you guys would think that's a tad too much.

So..

Would you do picks 4 and 7 for Griffen and pick 26?

He's 29 next year... We'll give you pick 7. If he was 26 years old we could give you pick 4. If he was 25, pick 3. 22... Pick 2. 21 year old proven gun... Like say treloar, Cameron or shiel, then you could expect a pick 1. If we didn't have a really high pick, then our first rounder and a good player.
My point is, age needs to be taken into account more when trading players. Just because a player is a gun, doesn't automatically mean they get a top five pick in return. Use the pick we give you well and you will no doubt be laughing in ten years at how you bent us over on the griffin deal.

He is a gun. And exactly what you need. Not to mention contracted and a club captain. Pick 7 is laughable. Just because he had an interrupted season with injury - some people need to remember the Griffen before season 2014. Pick 4 would be the minimum and the Giants list managers would surely know that!

That's all great... You forgot the part where he wants to leave you.... This automatically drops his value. Actually why don't you keep him. We might pick him up much cheaper next year... Or maybe pass on him. You'll get a really productive year out of him as he's so committed to you ;)

And you forgot the part how you've been speaking to him for 6 months. Can only help us that you are very keen on him!

Apparently been offered 4 Million over 4 years (what does that make his trade value worth?)

I can guarantee you guys will pay overs for him. Now that you've created this mess (Yes,you created this mess by taking to him over a period of 6 months, which is against the rules by the way), the AFL will ensure it's cleaned up. You'll give us pick 4 and probably another good pick or player.

As for the Mill a year for 4 years, absolutely. A poster on our board who is incredibly well informed and has been 100% right on this stuff in the past has given us that info and I'd back it in. Where the hell else is your over inflated cap going otherwise?..

There's also the fact you legitimately need a marque player, as you've failed to attract anything near that in your short history. You've now pulled off a major coup and picked up a top 5 player in the game. You won't let him slip away.

By the way, Peter Gordon has enough c*nt in him to keep Griffen on this year with us and sit him on the sidelines. No doubt. Because next year, we'll probably finish last and get a pick 2 compo anyway. Similar to the shady Frawley situation this year.

4, 19 and two fringe players have reportedly been the original offer from GWS, we will work it a bit up to be hopefully that pick 4 and 7. But I think GWS have been pretty reasonable so far. No doubt that its at least 4 mil over 4 years because every other club would have been snuffing him out with offers too.

Griffen? Reports so far suggest that he's willing to take a paycut on his current salary, whatever that might be.

He won't be taking a pay cut at all no way. He is obviously disgruntled with our former coach, yet after his sacking he still wants out. BIG COIN on offer for sure.

This deal has been 18 months in the making. He will instantly become your marquee player. This is as close to an ablett type as you will get. He will be getting a million a season for sure.

The original offer was the pick 7 they'll get from the Carlton deal which was just about locked in thisarvo (which has since become shaky because Whiley isn't keen on a blues move) and a mid tier player.

I know for a fact pick 4 wasn't on the table at first. They came in with a massive low ball which infuriated PG.

They're good to deal with though. Every year they've been fair. It'll get done and we'll be duly compensated.

Yeah GWS are generally good. This is a once in a decade opportunity for them and they have absolutely no use for these top 10 picks they are likely to have. Hopefully we can put them to good use.

Bit off there I think :p Every club has a use for a coupe of top 10 picks. Regardless of how many young blokes they've got.

Make your minds up about which bit of bulls#it you want to stick to.

Consistency in a conspiracy theory makes it all the more plausible to the gullible. Remember that.

These kids are obviously going to struggle to get a game, going to be made a lot harder when an A grade player walks straight into the club. Not to mention if they draft a key forward at say 4 then he isnt going to get a game for several years nor to mention a KPD especially with patfuls arrival. Teams won't give them more trade compensation than what they will get for O'Rourke and jaksch. GWS don't need to really care for picks anymore unless its to trade them off for stars.
