JoshWoodenSpoon I think phil might need another instalment.Congratulations to the winner of the Dragons v Hawks preliminary final for winning the season 28 premiership, as it appears the result of this game won't be known until after the scheduled date of the grand final...…..

I’m in the south of the state between Kosciusko and Corryong. Properly remote, still wet, but everyone here is set up for fire. I am, although a proper fire would scare the shit out of me.No rain in sight and next week temp going to mid 40's

Two of my neighbors are in the RFS. One thing that I didn’t properly understand is that they can’t really put out fires like these without rain. Just contain them if all goes well. They could burn for months. One near here burned for the best part of two months last summer until a storm dumped on the spot.
It’s scary. I have all of the right equipment: big tank, big dam, fire hydrant connection, pump, two big hoses, clothing. I’ve drilled. But there’s a forest 30 metres away. I’ll fight. But **** me, you look at images like yours above, and think that that might come after days of ember attack and no sleep...Stay safe and hope all your family and friends are clear of danger
*she4 : 9.26 {rFP} - The ball drops short of dosser.
4 : 9.28 {rBP} - DemonJim through heavy traffic.
4 : 9.32 {rBP} - A slick handpass goes to brucetiki.
4 : 9.36 {FB} - Hands it off to Van_Dyke.
4 : 9.38 {lBP} - He kicks across the ground towards deaneus.
4 : 9.42 {lBP} - deaneus wrestles with dosser - and wins. Good mark.
4 : 9.46 {lBP} - deaneus signals for his teammates to present.
4 : 9.49 {lBP} - deaneus dummy's the handpass and then takes a bounce.
4 : 9.53 {FB} - Handpass to space. Van_Dyke runs onto it.
4 : 9.57 {FB} - He's brought down by SarahSmiles.
4 : 9.59 {FF} - Now SarahSmiles has the ball. What can he do with it?.
I just got told that I looked like the hormone monster from big mouth. Not sure how to feel about it tbh
Scary stuff!!!! We laud our sporting champions, but our fire fighters would have to be right up there among the very elite members of our community. What the hell would we do without them?Huge effort by the firefighters giving it there all in shocking conditions across the state trying to save life and property

And you have no idea how fit they are to do it.Scary stuff!!!! We laud our sporting champions, but our fire fighters would have to be right up there among the very elite members of our community. What the hell would we do without them?
Oh I get it - we still have to wait until Sunday afternoon for the result.
Yeah, I can run in three directions, can alternately run to a dam that is clear, and have a pair of bolt cutters in the back of my Ute.Your neighbours are right. Rain and even high humidity can help along with still conditions. Humans can do little. Backburning and firebreaks help and concentrated work around housing. Far Kern, you need a good exit strategy.
I still remember Ash Wednesday in February 1983, and I have a lingering vision in my head of this guy on the front page of the paper - wearing nothing but shorts and a T shirt and thongs, and he's trying to fight a ginormous wall of flame with nothing more than a garden hose. It's confronting stuff. And you have no idea how fit they are to do it.

Start with the right equipment, planning, help and mind set. If you get hit by a proper front it will pass reasonably quickly. Stick to the plan. Don’t panic. That's shocking and also worrying. How the fu** are you supposed to fight this?

One of the things I have made sure of, via a neighbour, maybe, is that I have a proper set of firefighting overalls. When I asked if I should remove the badges he said that pretty much every guy in the valley will be running around in a similarly obtained uniform if there’s a real fire...I still remember Ash Wednesday in February 1983, and I have a lingering vision in my head of this guy on the front page of the paper - wearing nothing but shorts and a T shirt and thongs, and he's trying to fight a ginormous wall of flame with nothing more than a garden hose.
