In other news I discovered today that Ron Barassi was actually named after Proper Gander ‘s cat!

True story. I’ve got a photo of me with Ron Barassi (the footballer, I mean) taken by Knuckles Kerley, taken on Knuckles’ 80th birthday. I was having beers at the Mitre one day and spotted Ron Barassi hanging about in Bank place with other football types like your Mike Sheehans and your Eddie Maguires and so forth. So my beers inspired me to go talk to Ron Barassi and show him a picture of Ron Barassi the cat on my phone. Then an old guy who turned out to be Knuckles offered to take a photo. Which took a little while because of old guy meets iphone issues (this new fangled technology ... where is the button to press... I may need my glasses... etc). But I did get a couple of decent photos plus a bonus pair of mystery pictures of my trainers and a stretch of the ground.
