We were not just bad. For 35 years we only made finals a few times. We nearly went broke twice, we faced the threat of deregistration once, and we had a president who wanted to move to the GC.

Add to that the worst recruiting, drafting, and development in the league for the better part of 25 years.

Most of us witnessed only failures, and epic ones at that for most of our lives.

After that drought, it's about enjoying every moment if it, because we.know there is no guarantee of success the next year (or decade for that matter)

And I think if I were active at that time my head would have exploded with rage.

There is a confrontational element in the Richmond fanbase in this success that is virtually unique.
I previously had a soft spot for the Tigers even after they pumped us , that has faded, I actively cheered against them last year.

ClarkeM recruited me to the Wonders coz we knew each other from the GD board. But I didn't get into it and was just a name on a list for a couple of seasons. I then came back a couple of seasons later, posted in the sign up thread, loopy_cam recruited me to the Bombers and the rest is history. I can't remember exactly how many games I've played overall but I reckon I've been active (say 10+ posts per match across a season) for 85% of matches I've played.

Not too bad a number considering how many of us get stats padded when AWOL.
