Happy Thursday (aka manangatang's fourth favourite day of the week)! For the first time perhaps ever, we're bang on the thematic start time of 10am*, so let's get ready for ...

TOP TEN THURSDAY

This much-loved SFA tradition is a pretty simple one - each Thursday in the match thread, a theme is posted at 10am(ish) and than anyone that wants to join in lists their top ten according to the theme. Previous themes have included TOP TEN ANIMALS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN, TOP TEN LANGUAGES and TOP TEN FETISHES**, but this week we'll be listing our ...

... TOP TEN GOING SOLO SINGERS

You might go for someone from the biggest band of all time, like Paul McCartney or John Lennon*** or someone from a somewhat smaller band like Hayley Mary (formerly of The Jezabels). It could be someone from a boy band/girl group like Beyonce emerging from Destiny's Child or Robbie Williams exiting stage left from Take That. Maybe it's the godfather of punk himself, Iggy Pop, or perhaps even the highest-selling solo artist of all time, Michael Jackson. It doesn't really matter what or why you choose - it's your top ten!

There aren't any other rules for Top Ten Thursday except that your list needs to have ten entries (no more, no less). Feel free to order them from 1-10 if you like, and while explanations aren't necessary, they make the whole thing more interesting. And of course, ripping apart other nominations is definitely allowed/encouraged.

* So I had this ready 5 minutes early and then I got distracted and didn't actually post it haha.
** Please don't say Ringo.
*** To be fair, this wasn't an official Top Ten Thursday list, but something that Bonz subjected the thread to anyway.

1. George Harrison
2. Michael Jackson
3. John Lennon
4. Katie Noonan
5. Paul McCartney
6. George Michael
7. Rob Thomas
8. Bernard Fanning
9. Beyonce
10. Boy George

That was QUICK!

Are the numbers indicative of order of preference? If so, George above John AND Paul is something I just can't get behind.

Yes. George was the best and most underrated Beatle.

TOP TEN SOLO SINGERS
(no particular order)

1. Enya
2. David Bowie
3. Alka Yagnik (Indian playback singer, I love her work)
4. Josh Pyke
5. Göksel (Turkish singer)
6. Gotye
7. Owl Eyes (aka Brooke Addamo)
8. James Reyne
9. AILEE (Korean-Australian singer)
10. Judy Garland

Not so easy for me - I usually prefer bands and singers within those bands. I've removed people who have done some solo work but MOSTLY do work within their band (like Azam Ali from Iranian-Canadian group Niyaz).

I'm looking forward to this game team - you remember which one I am for passes right? Look for the fridge with eyes...

Like a locomotive, I'll be steaming (literally and figuratively) from the back pocket to try and dob a few from arc... (this allows the rest of the 50 for my turning circle to get back to the backline).

I actually meant singers that broke out of bands/groups to start a solo career, but still a great response. Enya was an unexpected number one though!

If you're steaming out of the back pocket, you'll be leaving me free to run riot. I'm averaging 1 kick and 1 goal per game, mate, so you're probably gonna want to concentrate a bit more on your defensive efforts rather than glory-hunting.

Oh damn LOL I misread it completely! Funnily enough, Enya counts in the breaking out of a group - Clannad! But she's probably my favourite solo artist of all time. James Reyne still counts!

But I don't really have many that fit into the category.

I like Kele Okereke from Bloc Party, but he's still IN Bloc Party despite a solo career as well.

I guess I don't mind Robbie Williams, Beyonce... George Harrison. But they aren't my favourites (like I don't listen to them much). *shrug *
