This is something that is annoying me and I have posted about this prior. Apart from media speculation and a few people with some inside knowledge, the club has not officially said that Carr is at our club to take over from Ken, (succession plan).

Why do people keep speculating that this is a given.

If I were to offer a job to person 3 years out from the actual position being available, that would be negligent. The person may have been a good choice at the time but when 3 years have passed surely you would look for for the best person available at the time.

Remember we have had some shit games while Josh has been the mid field coach at Port, especially when our midfield goes missing in big games. JHF was the stand out, that is because he is pure talent and self pride in his personal performance.

Not saying that Carr is not up to it as we don't know exactly how much Josh can change with Stinkers still here, just pointing out the facts as they played out this year.

We will never know until Hinkley is finally gone one day.

The club and the Hinkley camp certainly spread that rumour and specifically don't deny it, just as they did with Schofield before Carr, because it serves to partially placate the Hinkley haters.

Hinkley has made it clear he isn't letting go of power, so any succession plan will be forced upon him and hill try to weasel his way out of it at every turn.

I agree he spreads these rumours because he knows these guys don't have the backbone to put it on the record. And because its not on the record therefore in the eyes of others it doesn't exist.

And yes its all about Hinkley retaining all the power and getting another couple million dollars for no return.

Re Carr ... I don't support succession plans either, but you never know completely how good an assistant is until they take control as the senior coach and shape the team their way.

Carr should already be in charge, but until Hinkley finally swallows his pride and steps down, we're merely speculating about what sort of coach Josh will be.

I always thought the premiership team were given a substantial pay out.
That money is really only the minor part of it. Premiership players are more likely to end up coaches, they are more attractive to sponsors (both during and after they are playing), they are more likely to get media gigs.

If players don't want a flag, for actually wanting the supposed ultimate prize, every kid picking up a football dreams about, then they should be aiming for it for the financial benefits, both short and long term. Of course, I doubt anyone at the club lays it out to them in those terms, as they may start thinking Daddy Ken is costing them money, whilst raking in his own.

We had a lot of excitement raging about the trade proposals today. Let's not let that get in the way of the real goal here. Sacking Hinkley.
Maybe Ratkins is secretly the next great senior coach in waiting? Would explain a lot.
