Respectfully I disagree with your opinion on this one. Let's hope we're now at the endgame.

What exactly about that interview after the game has you so up in arms that you believe he should have been sacked for it?

The fact he agreed to it given the performance the week before and the total lack of accountability. We should've lost that game. It was calculated and purely to invoke sympathy. I seriously hate the man. That's just my opinion though and matters nought really.

THEY WERE GONNA SACK HIM BUT HE WON A GAME & CRIED!!

That’s literally what it boils down to.

Christ, even the likes of Rohan Connolly are completely behind this bozo, and happily trolls Port fans from a perspective of ‘Hinkley is a great bloke making mountains out of poo!’.

As if David Koch and Matthew Richardson have the balls to shoot Bambi under the prevailing media sentiment, let alone the cavalcade of grinning suits Señor Sunrise handpicks to sit at the teak table and nod along.

And a succession plan would not involve a sacking.
This is absolutely correct but if any one deserves a sacking, it's Ken bloody Hinkley.
It's not a nice situation when people get the tap on the shoulder but Ken deserves to be sacked, an amicable parting of ways is such an easy way out.

At the end of the day we won't get to see him get sacked but as long as he departs Alberton I will be happy.

It's sad that the club has let this situation grow like a festering sore, to the point where us wanting a change of coach has turned into a hatred for the man.

The way I look at things is quite simple. We are a football club in a competition with a target to make finals and eventually win a grand final.

We have a board that has failed it's members, supporters and sponsors with poor decision making when it comes to football matters.

So this lack of strength as a board should also come under the spot light, no one at the club should be feeling comfortable and that includes Josh Carr, as he is the midfield coach of a team where the midfield went missing in the important big games.

The lack of accountability when bad losses occur is not a Hinkley problem - it's a Club-wide problem, just as it is when you see every tom, dick and harry at the Club in front of the media following a win.

You don't have to like the interview, but there was absolutely nothing in it from a content standpoint that could have made the Directors at the Club believe that it was the final straw to sacking him.

And I wouldn't be using the term "hate" either. If we're at a point where we're using "hate" in the context of sport, we are most definitely overreacting.

The bolded part is what rings true with everyone. And once he's gone, I can't imagine a situation in which anyone is going to be dwelling on the Hinkley tenure.

You're right Chewy316. I don't hate Hinkley per se but I hate what he's been allowed to do to the club.

I think we will only truly know what is a Hinkley problem or a Club problem once he is removed from the equation.

i hate hinkley because he's a professional manipulator and everything he has done points to him to being one, weather it manipulating the players, the board and particularly koch, the people around the club, the media etc etc. He creates narratives that simply arent true and backs them up by saying its just around the corner every year. Take Boak for an example, he's so conditioned to swallowing his garbage he doesnt know how to do anything else. Hinkley's exactly like the guys you see in government on a $400,000 wage who have done nothing and still do nothing yet remain in that position. You wonder how they ever got there and then you realise the art of their success is play the system for their own ends. Hinkley just plays the system.

I noticed that this thread has continued ticking over the festive period, came to check as I thought there may have been some developments but it’s still the same broken records being played.

This thread literally never sleeps.

How can we sleep while our coach is earnin'?

I must say that I do check the thread fairly regularly in the hope of some news, but I just skim the first line or two of the posts, check that it's just a re-iteration of the last umpteen "I hate Hinkley" posts, and move on. One day maybe it will be different and it'll be "we've sacked Hinkley!" :tearsofjoy:

The Board are literally answerable to very little people - not anyone who would want to get rid of them that's for sure even if Hinkley were to leave. Hence, I disagree with the notion that keeping Hinkley is a way for the Board and the high level officials at the Club to remain employed.

The North and St. Kilda situations are very different to Port's situation - so I don't know why you have consistently brought them up. They're simply not an apples to apples comparison.
The AFL own both Port & the Crows and control the board where members have limited voting rights; we needed the AFL permission to sack and pay out Ken, something the previous AFL CEO opposed. Regardless, we are now into his final year

If the Club wanted to sack Hinkley, getting "permission" from the AFL would have been a formality.

And if we organised a protest at Alberton (won't happen we are all piss weak) would it of made a difference?

Because we can post as much as we want on here it's just white noise... But if we actually did something anything would it made a difference?

We should of all protested years ago.

I don't think there are enough people who are willing to lose their connection to the Club at the expense of fighting for the cause.

Problem is there’s enough people buying into the bs.
Any social media platform you look at confirms it.
If membership and game day attendance’s dropped 50% then you would see action taken.
It’s not happening so the circus continues.
What you think means fk all to the people running the club.
They are out to stay on the gravy train as long as they can.

Yeah unfortunately other then tredders who else has stuck there neck out?

Such a proud club with so many people who put the club 1st during there playing/coaching days now sit back and are quiet.

Mate it’s all about money and power these days.
Old days it was all done for the love of the club, players coaches administrators.
The old days ain’t coming back.
Best we can hope for is a club run by football people who put some sort of importance on winning flags.
That’s about the best we are going to get.

Plenty of players have said things privately - but they'd never stick their neck out like Tredders did. They love getting the invites to the free fancy functions and get made a fuss over when they're around the Club.
