I'm really confused with the mental gymnastics you've used to make Carr out to be the bad guy.
It's not that complicated.

We want ruthless winners.

Cahill was willing to step over Ebert to get the top job back.

Choco was willing to step over Cahill to take the top job.

From the outside it appears that Carr is showing that ruthless desire to be the top guy, which you need to be a great senior coach.

he kicked Hinkley out of the box, that's not sitting there like a good little boy waiting your turn, that's taking action before he even has the pay cheque

Kingsley's teams have failed in finals but they've acquitted themselves reasonably well in doing so.

The problem with Hinkley is that his teams continually fail to deliver under finals pressure which should give anyone who is half paying attention no reason to believe that he could possibly get a team to win the three finals in a row that are required to win a premiership.

The other problem with Hinkley is that even if you ignored the dismal manner of the finals defeats, 13 years is far too long to keep a coach who hasn't delivered the ultimate regardless.
Hinkleys teams are normally out of the contest from about the 5 min mark of the 1st quarter.

The amount of finals that are over 5 mins in is unbelievable.

And yet here we are in 2025 and he’s still coaching.. disgusting

If all you care about is continuing your employment in the role, and starting your holidays as soon as possible in September...then yes,you will have a team that isn't managed/coached well and will freeze in any significant games, including finals.

In his early years he probably saw every year in the role as a bonus, and saw winning finals as a way of prolonging his career ($$'s). Then he becomes philosophical about after some sad personal news and figures that sport and success dont matter (but money still does).

There's been 1 time that is true.

In 2013, we lead by 4 goals at half time and down by just 7 points at 3/4 time. So nope.
In 2014, we were on top early in the Prelim and the game went down to the wire.
In 2017, the game went to extra time.

In 2020, Prelim Final against Richmond was close the whole way through.

2021: that statement is true for the Bulldogs, if a bit hyperbolic since the scored their second goal just after 5 minutes.

2023: Lions were up by just 11 points at quarter time and we actually took the lead in the second quarter. It was after this that we Brisbane turned it on, kicking the next 3 for a solid gap at half time. And we got blown away in the second half.
GWS we led for most of the first quarter. It wasn't until the second quarter after we kicked a goal to take back the lead that they went on their big run.

2024: Geelong, they got a small gap with an early jump, we pegged them back and took the lead in the second quarter. Then they went on a run.
Sydney we led for the first 10 minutes. Before we moronically gifted them three goals with stupid unforced errors. We were the better team for the first quarter of the game.

Geelong game was over in my mind 2 mins in.. we didn’t turn up.. actually after the first fumble, dropped mark, missed tackle, missed tackle fumbled mark and bang she’s done

Bit of sarcasm in the 5 mins but you can normally tell by that time. but most are done by quarter time..oppo normally in front and then they put the foot down and we surrender..

The way that game transpired didn’t get nearly enough coverage.

The team was only down by 20 points at halftime, but given the body language, lack of unity, and complete absence of belief and fight in the playing group, you’d be forgiven for thinking their WAGs had broken up with them en masse.

Absolutely no surprise then that they completely rolled over in the second half and got obliterated at a rate that would’ve outdone the 2007 GF over four quarters.

Beyond Butters being withdrawn with cracked ribs — yeah that sucks, but it’s one guy and plenty of teams have successfully dealt with such adversity in the past, or at least redoubled their efforts — there was zero explanation given for that pathetic capitulation beyond the usual media bullsh¡t that poor Kenny finally ran out of his magic pixie dust.

Why are we still being subjected to this trash?

Lol was that the game where all the players were sitting apart in the briefing room at half time and some werent even in there while they all looked like they were at a funeral?

That’s the one. Absolutely bizarre. Didn’t even try to pretend.

We've referenced Brisbane so many times about taking inspiration in coming back from failure to win the cup.

Why don't we ever reference the 2004 squad?

Because it's so long ago that only a handful of players on the list are old enough to even remember that year and an increasing number weren't even born yet?

Four months later and I still can’t figure out what he’s trying to say at the start of this press conference.

Is he saying that the solid 6-7 game block of form pre-finals gives the team credits in the bank, and therefore we need to give the team some sort of pass for the QF capitulation and look at it as an aberration??

And then he says “it’ll be hard to explain this performance”, makes no attempt to try and nobody in the room challenges him on it?

I’m so utterly sick and tired of this shit, the thought of another season of it is just so mentally draining already.

“Stick with us!”

Why?

What the f—k are you idiots doing to even acknowledge there’s a seemingly permanent fatal flaw in what you’re doing, let alone taking any serious measures to remedy it?
