i no this has been done a thousand times but i always like reading other peoples memories about our beloved saints? funny stories, heartwarming, sad, anything guys come on!

Lockett 10.7 against Carlton. Went with a bunch of Carlton supporters who arrogantly said we were no chance even when we were in front during the game. One of them has followed the Saints ever since and goes to every home game.

The hailstorm at Waverley vs the Bears, Winmar's speccies vs North and Richmond at Moorabbin, and the lights out at Waverley (v Essendon) stick in the mind. The wind completely changing direction at half time at Waverley so Melbourne kicked with a 5 goal wind for two quarters in a row was memorable.

I would say Stuey Loewe's torp against Fitzroy to win the game, but I left 10 minutes earlier in disgust (learned a lesson there - never again).

Early 80s (Showing my age here) at Moorabbin watching from the grand stand end in which footscray were kicking to , they had a player Williams ( cant remember his first name ) closest to us up forward and we had a backman on him Robert Mace. The ball was up the opposite end in our forward area (which was rare in those days) they were both standing side by side hands on hips watching the play when it seemed for no apparent reason Williams suddenly swung around and king hit Mace. Bear in mind there were no cameras in those days and all eyes were up the other end of the ground. As Mace was lying on the ground barely consious Williams took a few steps forward hands on hips and kept watching the play up forward like nothing happened . The trainer went out to him and helped him up he then pushed the trainer away to say he was ok and with that ran straight up to Williams from behind , swung around with monster hit straight in the face and that was it he went off on a stretcher covered in blood and wasnt seen back out again. The amazing thing about it was nothing was ever mentioned or seen by anyone except so many of us spectators close by at the opposite end of the play.

thats unbelievable! must of been some harsh words being thrown around.

Incredibly not they were just standing beside each other and it came from nowhere. No umpires saw it and most spectators were all watching play up the other end of the ground its the most amazing thing ive seen in footy.

following plugger from end to end the day he kicked 15 against the swans. Not sure of the year but his first game for the year vs Crows when he kicked 10 or 12 and we smashed them.

1998 or 1999, the saints were playing the hawks at waverley in a twilight, at half time sainters were getting done by about 7 goals. i was only young and was with my mum and lets just say the waterworks started to flow. two hawks supporters turned around and offered their sympathy, to there dismay the saints came back and won. harvs BOG and a brilliant game. sorry hawks..

My favourite would be the 1997 Preliminary Final. I remember that gang tackle from Burkey and Brett Cook which put McKernan out of action.

Jason Heatley was my favourite player back then so I was off my head when slotted through all those goals.

I used to watch the tape of the 3rd quarter before each exam I did at uni....it pumped me up no end!!!!!

that gang tacle is one of the best tackles iv ever seen..heaters slotting goals from everywhere and commeti calling 'gun barrels straight'. that certainly was a good feeling, and yet 8 days later was hell.

What ever happened to Heaters? He just went missing one day and I never really found out...

First game I saw was against the Kangas in 98, we got smashed I think. At Waverly in a corp box, yo.

R15 Kangaroos 4.1 7.2 9.4 12.7 79 5.3 10.7 17.9 22.13 145 L Waverley Park 36557 04-Jul-1998

Not a great day. :p

When Waklein torched Carey and Heatly's snap that bounced over the north player to goal, and that tackle.

Plugger throwing the crutch at Eddie - ahead of his time Plugger. Who would not want to do that now!?

Reminds me of the day we not only smashed Sydney but big Plugger also smashed Peter Cavens face in. The only thing is a bit of the gloss was also taken off his 12 goals cause if i remember correctly Ablett kicked 14 the same day (prick).

i dunno about footy memories however the saints disco on a friday night was the stuff dreams were made of. late 70's no problems with the girlies then. just had to wait for barks, joffa, burnsy and co to cut their way through and went to the leftovers

he was playing for tassie until a few years ago and now he is somewhere coaching i think. but yeh really went off the radar fast.

I saw him behind the bar at Warrnambool FC a few years ago, so I guess he had the coaching gig there.

Didn't seem to be able to carry the soft tissue injuries which affected his pace off the mark (he was not quick or tall so needed this edge). One of the best kicks for goal I've seen.

12 v Crows - that was a day out. I think we won by something ridiculous like 132 points i.e. more points than there were Crows fans at the ground.

Oh, to be able to say this of one of our current crop...

Also remember the year we actually went somewhere, and Burkey's last match. Against Richmond in 03. Smashed em by 80 IIRC.

I wonder if Burkey had have played on for one more year... would he have made a 1 goal difference more than a year later?

Haha, Saints fans are full of what if's aye?
