And again, from Hird's presser he sounds like he genuinely does not know about possible suspensions for himself. I'm going to remain hopeful the club can cut a fair deal for all involved, but maybe I'm just setting myself up for disappointment!

Carlton will go into a finals series knowing they don't deserve it.

IF we're banned from finals... Carlton still need to win next week. If they lose and North or Adelaide win then they're out of it.

It'd be ironic if Adelaide was given our finals spot considering they cheated last year.

I hope I'm wrong, but I thought his body language was that of someone resigned to his fate. He seemed flat, and not defiant like he'd been previously.

I disagree. I think he seemed relaxed, happy to actually have a chance to vent and talk about the things he's been restrained on this whole time

You're probably right, not worth dwelling on anyway. He did an awesome presser, I thought he handled himself and the journalists very well indeed. :thumbsu:

We'll find out in due course I guess. Probably me just being super hopeful and not wanting to temporarily say goodbye to my childhood hero :'(

I agree with you mate, he has been my hero for most of my life, and will continue to be so.

I dont think your being super hopeful, he handled it in the way he has always handled things, With class.

He did look absolutely exhausted though, i think a lot of people are going to be falling over the finish line when this all ends. I hope he and his family can get away. Hell even organize a big meet up overseas somewhere with all the club.

But does he come back after whatever time they slap him with?

That's the question I'm thinking of..:oops::(

Even if they have to cop a suspension for Hird, that can be negotiated back to something like him coaching the VFL. That could really play into our hands long term. Give Hird a really good look at future players and allow him to see things from a different perspective.
Everyone has said that he will be back after suspension so there is no fear on that account. To be honest after the year he has had, 6 months off wouldn't be a problem as at all as far as i am concerned. I think we will come out of this pretty well the way things are heading...

Adelaide last year lost two years worth of first and second round draft picks (albeit they wilfully forfeited them) and lost their CEO for 6 months, who promptly returned, and anyone that incompetent in such an important position shouldn't have returned, but I digress. That was all for a minor cap infringement, not disclosing a third party payment correctly, and they didn't even go over the cap limit. Just somewhat of a clerical error.

Our governance problems appear to be a little worse than that, and I'd expect the punishments to reflect that. However, I hope we fight tooth and nail to keep it as soft as we can.

@RalphyHeraldSun The real surprise is that half the media hasn't resigned in shame from their handling of this debacle. #ImLookingAtYou

@scarce_sense You are a disgrace. Your club about to accept massive penalties and you blame journos. Hang your head in shame

What an absolute flog go shred him if u have twitter

Journos are journos. They report whatever they hear, and they heard everything from the AFL. Blame the source.

Agree. The issue is the sources. As Hird stated last night, he gave his word to keep confidentiality ... I wonder who else made that commitment (but without the same moral fibre)???

I missed much of Hirdys post match interview, but is it right that he mentioned that they had contacted all the mothers of the players & still dont know who made the call?

Not much reporting on that I can see.

Yes he did.

You will find a link to the presser on the previous page

I think you may be wrong on what adelaide did. He deliberately cheated knowing it was cheating. It wasnt a clerical error.

We are getting punished for governance and poor process.
Can Hird coach the VFL team next year if suspended?

I dont want him suspended but it seems very likely to happen and him missing 6 months he may aswell miss the entire year which seems to be the case.

Im ok with a suspension if Hird is ok with a suspension. if he is wiped out for a year, he has said he will come back which is ok, i was worried he wouldn't.

My issue is if the team some how won the flag next year, id hate for hird not to be a part of that.

Perhaps so.

But Ralph is the bell end who said with glee that "This is the story that just keeps on giving" after Evans resigned due to health issues.

The best thing Jon Ralph could possibly deserve is to have a grand piano dropped on him.

I thought it was disgraceful the way the commentators last night kept going on about Adelaide and North still being chances for the finals. Until it's official that we have lost points no they're not.

On that I hope Adelaide or Carlton take our spot if it comes to that. I really couldn't stomach North taking our spot.

It won'stop the ferals labelling us as drug cheats for the rest of their insignificant lives.

If Hirdy does step down and we somehow win the flag next year we should have him there with the caretaker coach to accept the cup. Opposition supporters would be up in arms. **** em.
