That's fine if you can quickly re-sign the uncontracted players - This is the key issue.

And I have consistently argued that points and draft picks are off the table - So this part is a win.

I re-iterate we can't afford to lose 2 or 3 core players because of uncertainty.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater - Remember that defamation cases may be upcoming - So a few figures will get their day in court.

We need to take a long term view.

This 'leak' of the latest deal.. perhaps just another AFL game to see where the public sits.

Interesting that the 'public' are now staring to feel that it would be fair.. ie not really demanding points and picks (except for the lovely HTB).. so AFL should be getting good feedback that the public worm is turning.

The release of the charge sheet hasn't gone as 'well' as the AFL hoped it would to get the result they wanted. It has been widely condemned by the legal community and most 'balanced' media people. Also whilst it was 'interesting' to Joe Blow.. it was all stuff they had already heard from Caro.. so this just adds to the belief that it is 'real' or that it is a con job.

There is enough 'rebuttal' coming back now that the AFL needs to be worried about the backlash. Remember the poll I mentioned earlier.. when you have 49% of the community NOT believing your 'side' of events.. and the other side hasn't even really begun to start fighting yet.. it should tell you that you are in for a WORLD of pain.

And again kudos to us supporters.. it must be driving the AFL crazy that we are still strong and stupid and crazy insane with our support of our club. It has definitely made a big difference I think.

If it was that AND no draft picks I'd take it ... but we're all in now so no backing down.

Forget the public act.. I think the AFL was told in no uncertain terms that this is hurting the brand.. and they need to sort it out.. from little snippets.. it seems Little got a few jabs in.. talks of ultimatums and deals and pressure... might have struck a cord with some in the room maybe?!!!

I certainly don't get the feeling that the club was at all worried about today's little stunt..
 
Lots of optimism on here but lets not forget the matter of the unknown Mexican drug that was injected into the players. At the very least we'll get picks or points taken away for that, to go with the fine and staff suspensions. Picks makes a lot more sense because taking points away is usually in the "cheating" ballpark.

My summary of what's happened and what should be the punishments:
- No banned drugs taken: Players ok.
- Players injected with drug from Mexico: Reckless behaviour, failure to look after player welfare resulting in large fine and loss of 2013 draft picks. Dank found to be acting rogue on this one, but already removed from the club.
- Players injected an unprecedented amount: Warning from ASADA. This is professional sport people need to get over this!
- Overall risks taken by implementing the supplements program - which lead to uncertainty of a number of drugs and poor management: Hird and Corcoran suspended 3 months. (Part of club fine resulting from this too).

1.5M is still steep but I could see the club accepting it, but does that mean we have plead guilty?

I would note that points have NEVER been taking anyway... not even when cheating actually occurred.

SEN Darren ( I think) just comented on the validity of the caller in to Triple MMM. Said that the Club rang all the mothers and every one denied it (we knew that yesterday). Then said she did sound genuine though. So the doubt begins.

He then also play Murray Browne's interview.

Gist? Thanks mate, I agree with you that maintaining the key elements of the current list is more important than even early draft picks, as draft picks still have a level of uncertainty about them whereas we know we are on a few good things already in our playing group :thumbsu:

If that's the case this doctor depending how things are determined in the end lied about one side or the other.

Hardie was salivating over this as is Langdon both of whom I respected and listen to over here.

The first half an hour of their sports today show was as a disgraceful peice of garbage sport journalism as I've ever listened to. Then like all the vultures they put the "upset mother " on.
Whether she was real or a set up doesn't matter , Hardie was almost barracking for her to be real.The comment "don't shoot the messenger" doesn't apply here boys, your foul and biased report tonight just whacked you in the faeces bucket of radio.You created the crap tonight.

Essendon cannot find this lady as far as I know now, and I think its a shocking emotional thing to use to make a point or a biased opinion. You should both be sacked for this I hope a lawyer get onto you.
6PR Langdon and Hardie should be ashamed of the condemnation of a club and its people, when as Newman says, and I've been saying for ages, myself, the evidence and the charge sheet are unproven allegations with holes all over it.

That foul Barrett creature, they have on 9 now, is a slimey mischief story maker . This story is not about "its only footy" this story is about the ruination of careers and clubs and others when the truth is as blurred as can be, and scum in the media do nothing but infer guilt on Essendon when ever they say anything they are experts of ifs and buts.
When letters and other private communications are released and the context or time of the writing has never been confirmed.Well the civil courts will take care of that.

I hope Hird and Essendon go for broke on the AFL , I hope Dimetriou is removed , I hope this whole sorry saga is finished and I'd love to see the demise of some of those crap low class rumour mongering media dogs, and that they get sued or sacked.

Let me add that if guilt is found then the punishment should fit the crime. Whether it be Essendon or the AFL and their amatuer administrators then you can hang them.
But you have to prove guilt first either way.

As much as it pains me - if the Hird penalty could get reduced to 6 months I think for the better of the club - accept it. By no means is it fair but it would end it.
Draft picks are vital. Simply cannot afford to lose any
 
Tim Watson = Class. He is disgusted in the Caro article hmmm

Tim is not only in the media he is the father of a player. Had he not been on the radio today I would not have been surprised.
