Sally Rugg vs Monique Ryan

Why should she have to put up with being exploited?

Labor aren't expecting Rugg to work 70 hours a week and attend meetings on a Sunday morning with 20 minutes notice.

That's Ryan treating her like that

The teals don't exist, it's a bunch of independent MPs with their own platforms

Keep getting sucked in by the marketing though.

Multiple "teals" were against the super cap
Rugg is not qualified to be a chief of staff, she tricked Ryan for her own personal advancement.

This isn't about Labor as much as you want to make it.

This is about you shitting on someone standing up for their rights because you like their boss because a billionaire told you they'd fix the climate problem
She is doing out of hatred of Ryan, why else would she bring up that she wanted to be PM one day.
It's pathetic.
Ryan is a neurologist so I'll back her everday of the week.

You get that the teal movement is tree tories yeah?

Your position on this is anti worker

Rugg's base in what 130k roughly and the payment for "reasonable overtime" is another 30k roughly

If you do the math on that, do a base 40 hour week, and look at that 30k

on a 1:1 hourly rate, no penalties or loading you get an extra 8 hours a week over the year, if you allow say 50% loading it works out to just under 6 hours a week

the court case has been about regular 70 hour weeks with large amounts of weekend time

we're talking about messages at 8:40am on a Sunday about a 9am meeting on that same day

we're talking about a situation where weekend work was a given

we're talking about wage theft here in reality

if you're paying someone for a 48 hour week and expecting a 70 hour week then you're short changing them 22 hours every week

which over a year is 1144 hours, which at the rate paid works out to roughly $72,000 in wages stolen based on Ryans definition of "reasonable"
it's true most are centre-right who have found common ground on climate change and corruption issues. centre-right doesn't apply 2 monique.

it's been the common knowledge/practice 4 yonks that when working for an m.p the hours are at times long and arduous. peeps have accepted that 4 various reasons. the upside of this matter might be that it changes. my guess is all members are waiting with bated breath as are their staff.

rugg lost me when she introduced a light-hearted remark about ambition. we’ll see how genuine rugg is with the money should she be successful. wonder if any will go 2 the causes she espouses.

She's not getting paid to be chief if staff but that's the title Ryan gave her, you know, without the matching salary.

Like I said, you're a tree tory and anti worker.

Enjoy the rest of your day

No, I follow recommended science . Australian unions and Sally McManus don't. They want new coal and gas jobs. That's morally bankrupt. History will judge the ACTU, the unions and the Labor party harshly.
A Teal MP is way better than a do nothing Labor MP.
Albo wheeled out Madeleine King and Tanya Plibersek to attack the Greens a few weeks ago. One of the most cynical moves from Labor this term.
Don't forget , Labor is the party of fossil fuels, the Greens and the Teals are the parties of renewable energy.

The teals are a protest vote for rich people who hate leftist politics but pearl clutch about the climate, racism and homophobia. None of them offer substance, sorry to break it to you.

More substance than the major parties. What policies of theirs don't you like? I don't think you'd disagree with any of them. See if you can find one.

Labor don't do a thing for working people or those on the poverty line. Look at the budget.
They have hoodwinked the workers .
They do support fossil fuel workers with massive subsidies for corrupt companies and by opening new coal and gas projects.
Their vote is on the decline overall over the last 20 years.
The election was won on climate issues yet they do literally nothing about it.

This isn't a thread about Labor or climate change.

It's almost like you don't want to talk about the actual issue this thread is for......

These policies are absolutely dripping with substance

I'm glad Monique intends to empower me to switch to clean energy, empowement is what I've been missing in my life.

I feel that is directed at me!

I started the thread. I'm happy to talk about it.
I feel Rugg has attacked one of the good guys unnecessarily under the guise of worker's rights.
Bagging Ryan is a low act. She can campaign for shorter hours for Canberra Chief of Staff in another way imo.
She's not campaigning for the general working person.
If she didn't want to work for Ryan then leave and show some dignity.

Classic Labor cliche bagging the MP's trying to get more renewables.
Ryan is a strong voice for renewables. Rugg is a strong voice for herself and Labor are coal bastards .

Three months ago, Albanese announced $4.7 billion in funding for renewable infrastructure construction and a $125/tonne cap on the price of coal. But sure dude, tell me more about Ryan's exploits from the crossbench.

If Ryan was one of the good guys she'd treat her staff better.

If you actually cared about workers rights you wouldn't be picking and choosing based on who was being an arseh*le.

The only thing about Labor relevant to this thread is that the federal government is also named in the court proceedings.

You're cheerleading for a politician and attacking someone who she has power over for not rolling over and taking it

Sounds great on paper but compare it to current coal and gas production and it's paltry. Don't be fooled. Why do you think Ryan and Bandt are up in arms about the current policy?

So you place priveleged Chief of Staff worker and her axe to grind as more important than meaningful climate action and keep repeating the phrase workers rights ad nauseam.
Workers rights is about the working poor and exploitation of workers who don't know their rights.
And you want to bag a neurologist who studied for 7 years to save lives because she got a bit grumpy with Rugg who wasn't pulling her weight, or delegating when required and who flew covid positive.
Seems to me you hate the teals and are looking for anything to bag them.

No I don't think wanting to do something about climate change means you should get to treat your employees like shit and exploit them.

And you want to bag a neurologist who studied for 7 years to save lives because she got a bit grumpy with Rugg who wasn't pulling her weight, or delegating when required and who flew covid positive.
Putting a lot of things together here.
Her qualifications also don't justify treating staff like shit.
Rugg flying covid positive has nothing to do with expecting your staff to work 70 hours a week when you're paying them for 40.

It wasn't great by Rugg but Ryan's suggestion she hire a car and drive back to Melbourne while sick was also not great.
Seems to me you hate the teals and are looking for anything to bag them.
I'm not a fan of how people act like there is a Teal party when there isn't.

I'm also not a fan of workers exploitation.
Being critical of worker exploitation isn't bagging someone for no reason.

I've taken issue with Ryan's expectations and treatment of her staff, if she was a greens MP I'd be saying the same thing, because again I'm pro worker

How do you know Ryan treats her staff badly? The evidence I've seen from Rugg is laughable.

Yeah it's just in court for shits and giggles.

If you're cool with doing 70 hour weeks including regularly working nights and weekends while getting paid for 40 perhaps you should go work for her.

You know, for the climate
