Something tells me if we picked Jesus at number 98 someone wouldn't be happy about it.
Looks a beauty!
One thing is for sure, the first one showed he had no left foot! That 1 minute clip looks a lot better than the first one. Some of those marks and leaps; wow. Talk about sticky fingers. Let's hope the shoulder holds up.

I wouldn't either. From all report he was small and not very athletic. It's also very difficult to play our game in sandals and robes.
Gives our esteemed Davoren something to tinker withSounds Promising but the Injury Concern is a Worry. Good that he is Versatile
Pretty tall tooGood hands, good mover and decent kick.
And just for the record Snoop did list McLarty, write up as follows...
Sam McLarty / Oakleigh / 197cm / 91kg
Really liked this kid last year but injuries stopped him from really showing us his best. I think the other thing with Sam is he a key forward or back. I like him as a back and think he could be a ripper. Loves the contest and hits the pack pretty hard. Good mover across the ground and his ball use is good for a kid his size. He is an attacking defender as well so that might see him get an edge on others. Problem is he has a dodgy shoulder and clubs will be wary of him.
Welcome to the Pies young fella, may your career be littered with premiership medallions.
Wills was a Collingwood VFL player. The pundits form their opinions primarily on the back of the TAC cup, u18 carnival amd then draft camp results.
Last year Seir and Wills raised eyebrows as they played footy for their private schools...so the "pundits" had nothing to rate them on.
A player like Sam who is injured and barely plays is always going to be "speculative" when trying to rate him against other kids who played full seasons.
All it highlights is that clubs have much larger scouting networks them the so called draft experts.
But if you play in the carnival, have your name quoted in a few phantom drafts by draft "experts" you then become a known name and supporters become familiar and comfortable with them. Then a few posters read a few articles start throwing around some of the familiar kids and then a ground swell of excitement develops....ie for Battle this year.
Gambling is a completely different kettle of fish to trying to identify talent.
One more than Brown then? One thing is for sure, the first one showed he had no left foot!
The big difference between the two of Sier and McLarty is that McLarty has demonstrable exposure. But was Sier not the definition of "speculative". Then he has followed it up with another first pick which has taken the "pundits" by surprise. We do know that the "pundits" generally are pretty accurate year after year in their overall draft predictions. Hence my concern regarding the human frailties I outlined above. I think you will find that Sier and McClarty are both very big calls in terms of determining the future of Derek Hine. He's either going to be proved to be very clever, or a failed gambler.
So did he only play one game this year snoop? Due to injury?Guys just reading some of the comments on him bit worried people are disappointed...dont be.
If you want to watch some of his best footy try and get some vision of his u18 footy last year along with last years TAC GF.
Sam is a good player. He is a big boy, he is athletic and tough and he runs into dangerous positions to intercept. I would have had him top 10 at end of last year but his injuries worried me this year and hence couldn't have higher. Club will have done their homework.
Vs Cox for instance I would say he is more mobile, they can both intercept mark, Brennan is probably a better kick long but Sam is a better kick short distance. I haven't watched the vision some of you have put up but dont walk way with a view he is a poor user. When I have watched him I haven't walked away worried about his skill levels. The only knock I have really ever had on his game is sometimes he isn't adventurous enough with his kicking. Remember he is an Oakleigh kid and we know those boys v well.
Must be hard hopping alongOne thing is for sure, the first one showed he had no left foot!

It is gambling... If you are going to draft someone from off-broadway, who is playing school footy or who has not played much TAC cup and has injury issues; then you are knowingly drafting against odds. Effectively you are drafting on a much reduced sample size and against a lower quality of known opposition. Hine has stuck his neck out these last 2 drafts. Either he is a very very clever guy at identifying schoolboys talent or he is suffering from the affliction I was talking about. Time will tell. The pundits form their opinions primarily on the back of the TAC cup, u18 carnival amd then draft camp results.

Yeah another group that arent highly rated by the draft experts...mature guys playing VFL/SANFL or WAFLWills was a Collingwood VFL player.
