this is exactly why i never take people's word until i see them for myself. man this guy was a walking tugboat out there? i dont know how you dont see that same thing at training and then think its a good idea to give him an afl game is just weird.

Ehhhh I’m not seeing much hope here. I had no idea he was so slow. He was treacle Tex Walker slow. It was hard to watch.

With McKenzie barely being able to move (never should have played) and Skinner, we stood absolutely no chance with Hawthorns fast entries.

Has there ever been a slower back 3 KPD’s playing in the same game as Jonas, Skinner and an injured McKenzie?
yes there has been, alipati, trengove & jonas

Quite possibly the slowest player I've ever seen. I don't care how good he might be in the air, how good he is with disposal etc. If you are a slow campaigner you will be consistently exposed by any half decent coach.

On last nights performance Skinner did not cut it at this level he looked a lot like Rhett Biglands very slow and next to useless.
Of course hinkleys brilliant mind sees differently.
Im convinced we dont have the players to go the next step.
The coach has placed a very low ceiling on this group and its shining through.

How many intercept marks did he take? Because I didn't see that at all last night, unlike the SANFL trial a few weeks back when he was marking them left, right and centre.

Worth nothing that he got picked off the back of not playing any footy the week before, we decided to have 75 emergencies go up to Queensland and miss a week.

Cut the guy some slack , first AFL game in years , playing in a debacle. I will reserve my judgement till after I have seen him a bit longer.
Agreed.

He should stay in for 3 games, then if he's still no good we can give Pasini 3 games before Aliir is back.

Ideally I would have liked to seen Skinner slot in, when Allir was in place and when our setup is more stable. That added height could be a bonus. Pasini is more suited to a flank role as he is around 192cm.

Yes he deserves a second chance but only a second
There was a play in the last quarter that could have got him a job at Ashton's Circus as a clown.
He had the ball but obviously had no idea what to do next, he was literally sh..ing his shorts
The captain to his credit came to his aid, got the ball and seeing Riley by himself got the ball over to him, Riley just like Skinner had a brain fade and stepped over the boundary line for an intentional out of bounds.
Result a beautiful check side goal by a Hawthorn player
Made a comment to my mate that we kicked Jarod Lienert out of the club for these wannabees.

That sort of shit was happening all night all over the field, it happens when there's fukc all options ahead of them.

They crab, they fumble, they look like dear in headlights because there's fukc all ahead of the play.

Jarrod Lienert had one contested possession and 5 clangers on the weekend.

Yes, this guy does not have enough pace for AFL football.

McKenzie also looked very average in his first game for the club at AFL level. From memory was absolutely torn apart by Stringer. Dangerous to write off a player after one game where most of the team looked like trash. Skinner was no worse than McKenzie.
McKenzie himself is a stop gap until someone better comes along, reasonable player but highly overrated on this board.

He was a key cog in one of the best defences in the league for the previous 2 years, if not the best over the two year period. Started like crap this year but doesn't take away the fact that he has been massive for us.

McKenzie in that game was being asked to play as a half back flanker against smaller more agile opponents. He also didn't get a game at AFL level after that until round 23 of 2019 (nearly 18 months time).

In contrast, Skinner made Big Boy McEvoy look like Usain Bolt.

If Skinner turns it around I will applaud him, but this isn't exactly a comparable situation.

I'll give you a newsflash our defence is an illusion always has been, Jonas & McKenzie are slightly above scrubber level & what you see when it goes to shit is the reality.

Aliir aside these guys are never stopping a rampage from genuine top 4 sides.
