hoping he takes his chance and cements his spot with aliir back there. it can be cluz, jonas and trent battling for the third tall spot.

Good luck Sam. Picked as depth back up and with Aliir being out for a couple months, he gets the chance to show he can be a lot more than that.

Super competitive one on one contests - is how he is described in the 2020 AFL Record Season Guide. That's exactly what we need.

Really excited by the prospect of him playing.
Having jealously watched other sides benefit from mature-age, low-cost recruits (e.g. Geelong's bevy of them), I'm hoping that we have struck gold with Skinner.

Best case scenario is that what he shows in the next few weeks is an upgrade on both McKenzie and Clurey - in terms of his size, aggression at the contest, agility and intercept marking ability.

If he plays as well as I think he can, then a long-term backline of Aliir and Skinner both taking regular intercept marks would be fantastic.

An upgrade on Jonas as well. If he does a good job I hope we don't drop him and go back to undersized defense again. My dream is it's Aliir, Skinner and one of McKenzie or Clurey as our KPD's. Jonas banished to the SANFL and we don't ever play (unless forced by injury) players under 190cm as a KPD again. Of course wouldn't happen as the club lacks balls from top to bottom, but I can dream.

I think our best defence has Aliir, Skinner and 2 of McKenzie, Clurey and Jonas.

That wasly Aliir is free to roam and intercept wherever he wants and it makes it impossible for opposition coaches to drag him out of the play.

Excited for him to get an opportunity this weekend and make a statement. We need strong contenders for key defenders right now, as it can allow Burton to keep the star small forwards quiet and let Houston remain in the midfield.

Fingers crossed he can stand strong this weekend and give our backline some reassurance while Allir is still out.

Puny Hawk.

I'm actually hoping he becomes a full time selection in our best 22. I don't care if that is at CHB, FB, CHF or FF.

Down back we desperately need a second tall player (the other Aliir). If he can play FB, taking on monster FF without giving up 3 inches.

Up front we desperately need a guy who is tall, wo can move around the park, offer a lead and can take a grab.

Fingers crossed and good luck Skinner!

john butcher would honestly be a legitimately better defensive option.

id rather jarrad redden hold down a key defensive post

First game and we were getting hit on the rebound hard. Pretty tough gig as any defender that. He can take a mark, chuck him forward. Would he be any worse than Cant Mark a ball Finlayson or Softly Softly Marshall?

Not going to write off my buddy after one game.

Hasn't played AFL since 2020 and three knee recos.

Caught out by the pace of the game and with the side forever being out of position because of the relentless rebound 50s caused by our diabolical forward 50 entry and non-competitive forwards.

Was slow, but match conditioning and some decent upfield pressure will help.

Ehhhh I’m not seeing much hope here. I had no idea he was so slow. He was treacle Tex Walker slow. It was hard to watch.

With McKenzie barely being able to move (never should have played) and Skinner, we stood absolutely no chance with Hawthorns fast entries.

Has there ever been a slower back 3 KPD’s playing in the same game as Jonas, Skinner and an injured McKenzie?
